Barbour jacket - fit advice

Hi all

I’m considering getting a Barbour Jacket, probably a Beadnell or the Bower. I was just wondering how it fits on bust/hips? I normally struggle with coats going around my hips … breastfeeding means it’s a struggle with my chest too now unfortunately. Are they quite snug? I’m wondering if I might just need to size up.

Thank you x

I have four Barbour waxed cotton jackets and my OH has two.
In every case we have found them "snug" and in my OH's case, short in the arm which resulted in his (brand new) jackets going straight back to the factory to be adjusted (at our cost of course).

This does not take away from the fact that we love our jackets and would thoroughly recommend them but try on before you buy is my advice.

I have the Beadnell and it’s roomy. Bought a 12 when I was that size and it was very generously sized even with a liner in. Now I’m a 10 it’s massive. It fit my DH perfectly when he gave it a try.

Ive recently found a similar George version in my cupboard from years ago. It’s a 14 and it’s tighter than the Barbour 12.

My DH finds his Barbour roomy too. He went for a liner a size smaller and there’s still plenty of room. His is a vintage coat. I’m pretty sure I’ve read on their website that they are generously sized.
