Puffer Jacket gone all funny

I gota puffer jacket for my child.
(Not one of the massive bulky ones though)
Anyway I washed it and the middle section, whatever's inside it has gone all funny and bunched up into one squidge. And there doesn't seem to be a way to even make it better?!

I've never bought a puffer jacket before as they don't suit me and this is my first I got for her as it was a right bargain and had no hood so she loves it for that.

Has anyone else had this happen before?

Put it back in the wash with a couple of tennis balls. When it’s out keep fluffing it back up as it dries.

Yes. You can to let it dry. Fluff. Dry more. Fluff more. It’s tedious. If you’ve got a tumble dryer you can put it in their on delicates and let the tumble drier do the work

You need to wash it again and then put it in a tumble dryer with dryer balls to fluff it up, that's the only way to get the puff back.

Is it polyester or actual feather down? Because proper down coats need to be washed with down soap to stop the detergent taking the fat from the feathers, which helps give the coat its warmth.

It says it's polyester

I don't have a tumble dryer - or any tennis balls!

Perhaps I'd better invest in tennis balls!!
How do the tennis balls make a difference to this out of curiosity?

Tennis balls won’t do you any good without a tumble dryer. They bash the coat around in the drum and help dry and redistribute the stuffing/feathers to refill the channels.

I had a polyester filled gilet that went completely flat and empty after washing but I hung it on the back of a chair next to a dehumidifier machine in my kitchen and just shook it every time I went in. It puffed again good as new when it was completely dry.
