Ive been cooing over these cardigans for years, and I just saw it on Traitors and as Ive done quite well with work recently Im seriously considering buying one as a well done to myself. Am I mad? I want the colourful one, but its over £400!!!! Ive never spent that on anything before. I do know I would wear it to death, and it would make me crazy happy. I have a ratty old brown cardigan that I wear constantly. So should I go for it, or is that totally bonkers? Anyone got one? The fact you cant wash them might be an issue cos I know I would wear it constantly and Im a glumsy git.

Thoughts?

Oh and here is the beauty. I mean its a work of art and so cheery. The Colourful Colossal Knit Cardigan | Hope Macaulay

I also love the browner colours which would go with more Bruna Colossal Knit Cardigan | Hope Macaulay

I also wouldn't know what size to get. Im a size 10/12 tall with big boobs. I really want that oversize look so Im guessing M/L. Id want it a bigger fit than on the model. They are made to order so don't want to fuck it up.

I’m a spinner and knitter. These garments look gorgeous but they won’t look like that for any time at all for all the reasons that PP have given. Sorry.

ladygindiva · 10/01/2026 21:00

I love them too op. Not sure if theyre genuine but there's a few on vinted for way less

amibeingaknob · 11/01/2026 09:23

Well I bought the brown one. Im just going to enjoy this treat to myself. Im 51 and NEVER indulged this much - its more expensive than my wedding dress, lol. BUT I recently started a new business that has taken off and I have worked my bollox off. I deserve a treat even if it ends up being a completely wasted indulgence.

Eeeek...exciting! Cant wait to parade around in it.

Thanks everyone.

Ohh how exciting. I’d never heard of these cardigans until right now and I love them! Enjoy it, sounds like you deserve it :)

Macauley Cardigan 😂
If these were available in thick cotton yarn I’d love one.

LunaTheCat · 11/01/2026 09:46

Enjoy OP .. it’s wonderful that you are treating yourself .

So did I!
And, OP, great that you went for it. Money well spent for something that will bring you much joy.

Soonenough · 11/01/2026 12:34

Hope it brings you much pleasure and joy . Good luck with your new enterprise too.

amibeingaknob · 11/01/2026 13:54

Awww thank you everyone. Yeh its been a super shit few years, followed by me pulling myself up by the bootstraps and now my business (which was based on a hunch) is going super well and best of all I love doing it. So I do feel very proud of myself and kinda want to celebrate me! haha. Boasty I know, but I do feel like Im finally winning at life after feeling for a long time like the biggest loser ever.

Enjoy it! Also I don't believe in an age limit for enjoying anything.

ilovepixie · 11/01/2026 14:17

Hope has been in business for 6 years now. If the garments were as bad as some posters are saying she wouldn’t sell anything! If you like them OP go for it, but you probably have to take care of the cardigan for it to last. But buy it and enjoy it. Life’s too short!

If you knitted it in an acrylic yarn you would be able to wash it

Good on you, enjoy the purchase

yorkshiretoffee · 12/01/2026 09:41

I didn't love it when I saw it on Traitors but the brown/pink one is gorgeous! I hope you really enjoy it OP and wear it loads. Let us know when it arrives.

ThatPeachSwan · 12/01/2026 10:34

I think they are gorgeous OP! Enjoy your lovely purchase. My mums a knitter and im going to see if she can knock me one up. I bet you will look fabulous x

trustedadult · 12/01/2026 10:45

Gross. Comedy clothes

SendTheNextOneIn · 12/01/2026 10:53

I wouldn’t buy one as a) I can’t afford it and b) I am a knitter so would be able to make one, but good for you for treating yourself to something you love @amibeingaknob.

please look after it though. As others have said the unspun roving is not the most stable fibre, and it will need care to make sure it doesn’t felt or shrink. Definitely do not machine wash it under any circumstances, or you will end up with an expensive felted toddler cardigan. And I wouldn’t wear it as a coat.

Haha. I get what you are saying. I know my 'style' (if you can even call it a style) would be seen by some as comedy clothes or what some would consider 'overgrown toddler' or 'can't accept the 90s are over' type. I like to think I look funky and edgy and cool....but I probably look more mad art teacher 😂
(think lucy & yaks, colourful jumpers, docs/cons, and a mass of red curls which no matter what I do look like ive just rolled out of bed). I like to buy items that bring me joy and are comfortable (i wear dungarees so much because I hate waistbands - Im highly sensory).

Anyway, I take your point and Im not offended.

Yeh I think i will just never wash it. Id be scared to dry clean too - even though it says you can. I'll just be a mucky pup and spot clean and live with stains if I have to.

Ooooh I will! I will take some pics and model it for you all. I feel I will be parading around in it for weeks showing it off, lol. I agree with Hope - I think they look like wearable art. Im very excited.
