buckeejit · 09/01/2026 19:38

As per title, DD has been wearing crop tops & think she needs something a bit more though crop tops are ok. Using BoB she measures 32G & I can’t find anything other than Doreen triumph.

can anyone recommend somewhere to order from or should we stick to crop tops or get some wired bras?

any advice appreciated! many thanks

Bra sizes are not standardised like shoe sizes. The only way to find a bra that fits is trying on, the numbers and letters are arbitrary.
there is also personal preference re tightness of band etc. BoB is not the oracle Mumsnet seems to think it is. I’m sure it works for some, but definitely not all

Oh go away

Why? I think it’s odd. But if you think a thread which might as well be titled come and tell me all about your massive boobed tweens is ok you carry on.

Amsylou · 09/01/2026 20:27

I find the BoB site misleading and find it’s sometimes better to adjust the band up one or two sizes and the cup down one or two (so it’s a sister cup). I was told I’m a 28E but I find a 32C most comfortable. I’m probably getting less wear from it as the band isn’t tight but then i felt too restricted in a 28 band. Worth considering looking at a 34F and a 36E for her or getting measured at M&S.

Same, I’m a 28F on BoB but feel like my ribs are being squashed in a 28 band (and good luck trying to find a 28F). 30E is similarly hard to come by (particularly because my boobs join in the middle so I can’t wear anything with an underwire that comes between the breasts) so I wear a 32D most of the time very comfortably and with adequate support.

Even if it is the tween’s size, it is a bit weird for a first bra size - surely you’d think your D cup 10 year old needs a bra before she got to a G cup?

Book in with M&S bra fitting service, they have a lovely range of non wired crop top bras really soft and comfortable perfect for a tween

Not for a 32G tween! She needs proper support - and M&S do very few G cups anyway, in any style.
I recommend bravissimo, or alternately pour moi if shopping online.

Absolutely avoid M&S, they use the old style fitting that is definitely not correct.

@buckeejit assume you are familiar with this as you’ve mentioned BoB anyway.

FunMustard · 09/01/2026 20:28

M&S bra fitting is shit.

I have two of these bras from Feelingirl - I was seeing them all over Tiktok, and wanted a non-wired option for working from home days. I am a 34HH, extremely saggy, and find these great. Really comfy, easy to wash, and as I have a short body I find the adjustable straps really helpful. I got a size M.

If you can, order a bunch from Bravissimo online (if they deliver to you - apols I'm not sure from the website) and send back as many as you need to. But get a couple of the soft ones too, they might be just the thing, but even if not she can use them under pjs or whatever.

@FunMustard do these really give you any support? I’ve been eyeing them up..I’m prob 32 g/gg but very saggy!

If she wants decent crop top style ones Yvette (think it’s yvette_uk.com) ate not too bad - 32FF dd hates wires and wears these a lot (not for sports though …I insist on proper sports bras for that)

M&S Flexifit non-wired full cup bra (F-H) comes in a 32G. No, I don’t recommend their fitting service but as an H or G cup myself, I find these very comfortable to wear. Worth taking a look as they are pretty plain.

I was going to suggest this bra, it’s soft and comes in various colours as well as seasonal colours. My DDs like the matching knickers and say they are really comfortable.

jesus, my language is hardly that of a fantasist. It’s facts. I’ve said what she’s measured as & asked for advice on brands for that age range. It’s not pleasant or helpful to hear people say ‘that’s ridiculously big for her age’ etc as I know she’ll face that sort of shitty comment from unkind people in real life as I did from an early age & it’s deeply uncomfortable. I’m delighted for you that your adult daughter is a size 8 🙄

Thanks so much for all the other advice - lots to go on & recommendations to try. I’m grateful as I knew it was going to be a bit of a mission.

It’s tricky to get to an independent shop as she does a long drama school on Saturday & the independents are closed on Sunday & our bravissimo closed, but will definitely arrange a trip for next school holiday, (one of the drawbacks of NI!)

I’m going to order some sister sizes in the meantime from Freya & panache & maybe molke & take out the wires in the Sainsbury’s one to try out.

fwiw, she’s not massive & still looks in proportion-there’s a big difference between 32G & 38G for instance. Prior to measuring I’d have thought she would have been a D-E in the cup. She doesn’t really do much in the way of sports as she has a Chronic illness & gets fatigued easily so has been happy so far with supportive crop tops. Very glad to have made progress & some things to try!

Yep I'm really happy with them! I'll take a pic tomorrow if you like - I think the bonus of being saggy and having lost weight so they're like two tennis balls in socks means they squash up pretty good lol.

32 band is very large for a child. It equates to an adult size 12. My DD just went up to 32G at the very end of her pregnancy and she’s normally a size 8.

It really isn't. Lots of girls go straight into a 32 band or bigger. Most girls reach their full adult height before 14. Different people have different builds and therefore different rib cage widths. I have a very small, narrow ribcage so I got a 28. My younger sister was objectively thinner than me but is broader in general (more of a swimmer/rugby player build). She was a 34 band from the start and she is a size 8/10, not a 12. In fact if you look it up, the average band size for a teenager is 34!

She's fully developed.

By 10 was my adult height, weight and having periods. Possibly I was a size 8 sometime when I was wearing child sizes but I went straight into adult size 12.

My first bra was a 36B because it was the dark ages - pretty close to a 32F in modern measures.

Nice for your daughter that she's a size 8 but that isn't the story for a lot of women.

Hey, there is a great place for fitting in Dublin if you happen to be down that way, lovely staff and generally helpful, you need an appointment. If they don't have what you need they will make a recommendation of what to get online.

Isn't it so helpful of the teeny-tinies to come on this thread and boggle at a perfectly plausible size? It's very tiresome that so many people still think that anything larger than a C cup must be absolutely colossal. My 12 yo DD is exactly the same size and if I had been measured correctly at her age then I have no doubt that I would have been too.

OP, my DD flatly refuses to wear anything wired, or anything that looks too like a grown-up 'proper' bra. She's currently in these non wired sports bras from M&S: https://www.marksandspencer.com/2pk-ultimate-support-non-wired-sports-bras-a-h-/p/clp60706940#intid=myanav_order-details_btn_buy-again

I haven’t read all the latest posts but I think it’s also the 32 band size on a child which is considered unusual, given it equates to around an adult size 12. You can mock the “teeny tinies” all you want but whilst big boobs are out of our control, obesity mostly isn’t. Sorry if you don’t like it but 32G is not a perfectly plausible size for a child and deriding others for noticing that isn’t “helpful” either. It’s also odd that the question has arisen at the point the child is 32G as she hasn’t transformed overnight and therefore must have been in need of a properly supportive bra for a good while now.

In the dark ages a size 12 wasn’t equivalent to what it is now. I was the same, fully grown at around 11 years old and badly measured as a 34B/C. These days at 5ft 4in and around 8 stone I’d be a size 6/8 and something like a 28 or 30DD/E. At that height needing a size 12 you’re overweight. Which I am.

Exactly the surprise for me wasn't the size it was the idea that this was the first time op was considering purchasing a bra for the child!

Where are people getting a 32 band is a size 12 from? I have had a 32 band size and been bigger than a size 12, I know for a fact a 34 band size can be a size 8 because my sister is.

SaveMeFromMyBoobs · 13/01/2026 14:29

In fact if you AI it, it says 32 band is petite!

Because that’s usually the M&S way of measuring
I wear a 34 band at a size 16/18, a size 8 usually you’re looking at around a 28 band
the band is your underbust measurement without adding 4

SWcurious · 13/01/2026 14:43

Blueuggboots · 09/01/2026 20:27

Please do NOT go to M&S!!! Their measuring style is terrible.

This! Do not go to M&S. Their bras are very poor quality. I used to be a 32FF and I'm now a 34G. I find bravissimo the best but they're online now for NI customers.

It will be trial and error to find the best style to offer her support but speak to them on the phone, they're very helpful. I agree Freya is the best make for large breasts/small back combo. And their styles are more youthful too.

Sesma · 13/01/2026 14:45

I have an under bust measurement of 35 inches at size 12-14 and wear a 36 because I have a large rib cage so the sizing can vary even if you are not that large. Some people have a larger rib cage like me
