Walking on ice - best boots?

Can anyone recommend any boots for walking on ice that are genuinely non slip? I've tried adding Yaktrax to walking boots and they didn't make much difference. I have a phobia about walking on icy pavements and I think maybe the right boots might give me the confidence I need to at least try to go outside!

Dunlop Blizzard wellies. The soles use the same rubber as their winter tyres and seem to stick to ice. I’ve used yaktrax for years and prefer the Dunlop over them as Yaktrax are great on ice but terrible once you go on a normal surface.
Also avoid any walking boots with Vibram soles. The sole most brands use is designed to be hard wearing but that makes them terrible on slippery rocks or ice.

They’re not cheap, but Pajar make several styles of boot with an ice cleat that you can flip over into the sole. Much easier than taking YakTrax on and off.

Thank you! I will check the Dunlop wellies out, they sound great.

I bought some Fitflop boots that are meant to be non slip……. Still haven’t left the house to be able to report back yet. I HATE the Ice

put some socks, preferably quite thick wooly ones, over the outside of your footwear. Even if you can only get them part of the way over your shoes/boots.
the fabric adheres to the ice so you don’t slip.

yes you’ll look like a bit of an idiot, but you’ll be an idiot without any broken bones!

Walk like a penguin.

Re my post above, you should also just be able to walk normally using this method.

I've found Yaktrax really good, I just wore them over my flat boots (with a decent tread) earlier in the week and felt confident to walk up the icy hill. I've got the Yaktrax Pro though.
