What socks with leggings?

I’m a support worker. Come to the conclusion that leggings are actually my best trouser choice for work for practical reasons. I wear black trainers with them. Not quite sure what I should do about socks though.

I would normally go for trainer socks that don’t show but it’s really cold at the moment. The yoofs wear white sport socks pulled up over leggings but I’m 56 and not sure if it looks a bit try hard if I do that.

any suggestions? I’ve made sure to buy really sturdy leggings so my pants won’t be on show at any point 🤣🤣

thank you

I wear normal mid calf ones pulled up under the leggings. And make sure the leggings are down to my ankle bone. Stops the breeze!

I just wear my boot socks with them. Whatever does the job of keeping my feet warm is good enough for me.

I wear socks over leggings. Sometimes white but in the winter I wear warm thermal or hiking socks over my leggings. I’m older than you.
I spend about half my time in the Cotswolds and for walking in th countryside or even walking around parkland near the towns, socks over leggings of some sort with hiking shoes or trail running shoes or some sort of trainer is pretty standard attire for people on a walk.

I wear my merino blend Bridgedale socks to exercise in winter - they are ribbed so look less tragically elderly millennial than trainer socks but if anyone enquires too closely I can confirm them as a suitably middle age choice 😂

Also, they are really warm and comfortable - I bought 4 pairs on sale at Blacks or Cotswold Outdoors years ago and they hold up well!

I just wear any old wooly type longish socks (ideally in a matching outfit colour!).
Always outside the leggings and scrunched down. It's not that I think im too old to wear them pulled up to mid calf, it's just that I think it looks abit wanky!😅

Same as@henlake7. Scrunched down woolly socks.

Chunky wool or cotton socks, depending on the season

Agree that the merino wool / mix socks you get from Blacks / Go Outdoors etc are a good choice.

I just can’t do the white sock over leggings thing. I’m scarred from my school days when my dear old Mum bought me a multi-pack of white sports socks for school and I got called Shergar for a year.
I wear socks pulled up under my leggings and boots if it’s cold.

I saw some really nice socks to wear with leggings on Facebook recently. Posting this now so I have something to come back to when I see them advertised again!
