Where do people shop for these now?
DD getting married in September, men are all in black tie

i think I’m a young 50, normally shop in Zara / mango, size 8-10.

i don’t want to risk looking matronly or like my mother

I would go to Me and Em and buy a lovely silk dress and avoid a hat or fascinator.

Self-Portrait, Farm Rio, The Outnet, Wolf & Badger, Net a Porter, MyTheresa should all have better options than a normal MoB style

what colours & shapes do you prefer ? Sleeveless an option for you? What length looks best on you?

there are some of us on here who LOVE a bit of vicarious shopping, but we stand a better chance of hitting the mark with some parameters in place!

Avoid anything in Menopausal Mauve.

also, there is still a lot of wintry stock at the moment but most sites will be bringing new stock in very soon

DDs colour scheme is buttermilk yellow 😬 as a pale skinned blonde it’s not my colour!
I like wearing and look good in green, navy, brown

sleeveless is fine, I have really good legs so often opt for shorter skirts or shorts

I don’t like any of those pictures though

Other places to look are Maje and La Double J. Their stock is looking very wintry at the moment so i would give it a week or two. Do you have a favourite dress that you’d want an upgraded version of? Or a favourite designer?

I bought a couple of lovely Gina Bacconi dresses from Vinted. MOTB dresses are usually worn once, or bought as an option and unworn. Mine were both BNWT.

More possibilities, just to see what silhouette works for you. The Reiss one could be stunning with your colouring (and these Jimmy Choo’s), the Navy one would need careful accessories to not look twee but is a strong shape.

@Princesspollyyy, I agree! But it was more a suggestion to see what the OP likes. Once narrowed down a bit, it’s easier to look for a similar look to suit a number of budgets
