Skincare for 10yr old

My 10yr old son has started getting the odd spot. Thing is he's (very probably) got ADHD, is a huge fidgeter/picker and cannot leave these alone. Now one on his face is badly infected and will no doubt scar 😞.

Could I please have recommendations both for a simple preventative skincare routine for him to minimise the spots, and also for something to help when they do inevitably emerge?

I was wondering about using plasters so he can't pick, but not sure if that would potentially make the spots worse.

Not sure if this is the right board but I figured this is where the people who know about skincare hang out!

I’d get him some of those little hydrocolloid plasters that go over spots. Dots for Spots make good ones. They hide and protect the spot.

And perhaps a fidget spinner?! Grin

You could give him anthisan or calamine aqueous cream to stop them from itching, so he is less inclined to scrath them, or give him an oral antihistamine. And dab them with neat TCP at night to help dry them out. DC used to have a zit zapping cream or gel that was really effective if you used it immediately. To avoid infection, keep his nails very short and change his face flannel daily

Look for a “ skin picking” fidget. Lots on Etsy and Amazon.
I’d avoid plasters as this could lead to wanting any imperfection covered. As a PP has said spot dots might help especially at night. Some are especially for acne.

Yeah he has a bunch of fidgets but doesn't seem to help!
I will look for the spot dots.

What is a good skincare routine/product to use daily? Currently he does nothing.

Spots and stripes is designed for tweens and early teens. Has gentle facial wash as well as spot treatment

We bought my daughter who is 11 and has a similar issue CeraVe face wash - it’s done wonders and totally safe for young skin. She also uses bubble moisturiser which seems safe too.

I think it’s this one
