Really Warm Gloves - Recommendations

ChilledProsecco · 03/01/2026 08:07

My hands are always freezing as I’m on medication for high blood pressure.

I need to buy a new pair as my teenager borrowed mine & they haven’t returned them from ex’s house so they will never be seen again.

Any recommendations much appreciated! Thanks

Mittens are warmer than gloves.

PersephoneParlormaid · 03/01/2026 08:22

I wear a pair of fingerless gloves under my gloves, and the ones with the thermal fleecy linings are best.
I saw some cosy looking mittens in the M&S sale, wish I’d picked them up.

Joanie17 · 03/01/2026 08:22

Agree with above, mittens are better! I got a fleece lined pair from H&M years ago. You obviously have to put them on before your hands get cold (they won’t warm up hands once already cold).

Nannyfannybanny · 03/01/2026 08:27

What meds are you on for hypertension? Interested because I'm on amlodipine it causes hot flushes,DH that plus ramipril double whammy. We have dogs, walk on south downs this time of year,it's been bitter. We used Thinsolate, because they are warm but not too thick . If it's really cold, snowing, wet, ski gloves.can't wear mittens because of leads and pick up, but yes,you do need to put them on warm hands.

Two layers are key, I have thinner gloves with the little pubs you can operate a phone in then thicker fleece lined mittens. I also have silk inner gloves for when it’s really cold (not really around home but useful when minus 10 at my DD’s or on the motorcycle)

My last pair were Trespass ski gloves & they really didn’t do the trick! Normal leather ones are hopeless.

I’m on Lisinopril & will be on it for the rest of my life.

I promise these are the warmest gloves in human existence: Ragg wool pop top mittens gloves I buy them for my primary school teacher friends to wear when they're on winter playground duties.

Cashmere wrist warmers and Sealskinz gloves (after a recommendation on here years ago) help.

Mercurial123 · 03/01/2026 08:38

I have mittens with a fake shearling lining they are super warm.

bumphousebump · 03/01/2026 08:39

Sealskinz gloves with silk liners. That’s what I use for dog walking.

Featherlemon · 03/01/2026 08:44

Uniqlo HeatTech Gloves are great

WoolerOwl · 03/01/2026 12:29

Cashmere wrist warmers definitely help. But another thing I do is put a plug-in heat mat under my computer keyboard, to rest my wrists on. It warms up the blood to my hands. You could do the same with the mat on your lap while watching tv. The mat comes with different heat settings and a timer, so it doesn't matter if you leave it on. It has made working from home so much more bearable for me. There are lots on Amazon, eg this one.

Ski gloves

SeaToSki · 03/01/2026 12:55

Get heated gloves. You charge the battery pack at night. Or handwarmers to put in your gloves

ChilledProsecco · 03/01/2026 13:09

Thanks for all the recommendations so far.

I saw some in the Barbour sale & tried them on - wish I’d bought them now!
