Horrendous crepey neck

Thedogswhiskers · 01/01/2026 17:38

Is there anything I can do for my 53 yr old crepey/saggy/baggy neck? Apart from wear a scarf? Or surgery which is not going to happen. I moisturise it daily with a thick Nivea body cream but it looks BAD

Friend who was a beautician has got a few of us at work on this - Neutrogena Hydro Boost + Cream SPF50. It's about £12 in Boots and it's very light.

I had this problem due to weight loss. I use estriol cream and castor oil on top at night. It looks a lot better to me. I find mine looks worse when I’ve had a roll neck / scarf on all day which is annoying!
I wear sun block on my neck / chest in summer. I read everywhere that nothing works but it has definitely improved over the last few months

catpigeon · 01/01/2026 17:53

Nothing

Blinkkisses · 01/01/2026 17:57

Keeping hydrated helps a bit - my neck definitely looks more crepey when I’ve not drunk as much

harriethoyle · 01/01/2026 18:01

Obagi growth serum is incredible albeit spendy. Makes a noticeable difference.

Salvadoridory · 01/01/2026 18:04

Whats your opposition to surgery? I had it under local, brutal but probably the most effective treatment I have had along with eye bag removal, also under local.

Estriol cream as in HRT? Would the gel work do you think?

Thedogswhiskers · 01/01/2026 18:31

Happy to try creams suggested but don’t think I could do surgery unless it was necessary. As in for health reasons.

No estriol is the vaginal cream like ovestin. The gel is full hrt so don't be putting that on your neck 😂

the cream is interesting tho I mean if it plumps up down there why wouldn't it plump up up here?

AndeanFlamingo · 01/01/2026 18:49

I've never heard of using Estriol on your neck, I have several tubes that I probably won't get through before they of out of date so it's tempting! Think I need to read up on it first though.

MySweetGeorgina · 01/01/2026 18:50

I’m 54 and my neck is crepey and saggy now

it is normal for our age

it is not just the skin, it is the whole underlying tissue collapsing 🤷‍♀️ A cream will not fix it

i am just working on growing massive shoulders, traps and biceps in the gym so people think: oh fuck she looks strong, before they think oh fuck she looks crepey 😄

Yes - the stuff they give for dry vagina I read about it before trying it. I was given it for HRT purposes then heard it was good for a saggy neck. I’ve used it for about 6 months now and it looks better. I am not in any way qualified though so have a read about it - lots of women seem to use it

Thedogswhiskers · 01/01/2026 22:06

I think chin up and never look down may be part of the answer!

A firming serum helps. I’ve been using the Olay one in a little red pot. Quite pricey but you only need a bit and I did notice results after a couple of weeks

Breltrin · 01/01/2026 22:21

Make sure you’re moisturising it morning and night. And have you tried applying Tretinoin? Using Monderma’s tretinoin has made a big difference to the crepey skin on my neck. Topically I believe that's as much as you can do. I wouldn't bother with retinol.

Thedogswhiskers · 01/01/2026 22:45

I use retinol on my face but haven’t been down the tret route. For some reason I didn’t think it could be used on the neck

Tret can be aggravating on the neck. Use carefully!

paddleboardingmum · 02/01/2026 10:19

Winter makes it look worse in my case- fake tan? might try that myself.

Hankunamatata · 02/01/2026 10:22

HRT really helped mine
I used olay regenerist during day and retinol 24 at night
Drinking lots of water.

Unfortunately not everyone can have HRT, but even that can’t help a gobble neck! Apart from surgery, the best options are Tretinoin, led mask and gadgets that work on facial muscles, but these treatments have to be done consistently.

climbintheback · 02/01/2026 13:43

Polo necks are useful!

Salvadoridory · 02/01/2026 18:13

Lipo and then 6 weeks with a elastic dressing. Under local, took about an hour. Its lasted well through some weight gain and loss since.

@Salvadoridory
that is impressive! I have the lines, the crepe, and the sag. It’s all going on
