Beachy holiday wardrobe - plus sized

I’m off on my first beach holiday abroad in 10 years this year 🥳

Due to health issues the past few years I have gained a significant amount of weight and my health issue makes it difficult to lose it. I’m currently a size 22 and realistically will likely still be when we go on holiday.

I have absolutely no suitable clothes bar a few casual T-shirts.

We don’t go until summer but financially I’d rather start picking up a few bits each month.

I need casual daytime, slightly dressier evening but nothing crazy - maybe just some nice maxi dresses etc. And some beach coverups.

1 week holiday in the Balearics.

can anyone suggest any good pieces? ☺️

Go on Vinted where you will find some good bargains this time of the year.
I would start with one or two good swimsuits tankini / bikini whatever your preference. Supermarket ones rarely have the same support for larger sizes. Magisculpt are a good choice for size and support and some come in longer body length. Some beach shoes / sandals and you can buy summer dresses that you can use as a cover up and to wear during the day if you go out and about. Do you wear shorts?

Evening time a couple of maxi dresses like you say. Most clothes are polyester which can make you really hot so if you can't get cotton get a mix. So for example I put dresses long size XL into Vinted and then brand Moda because they are the old asda brand and the materials were so much better then and loads of dresses came up just to give you an idea. They may not be of your liking but its a start for ideas.

Cotten and linens. Any man made fabric, you will roast in it.

On Vinted, look for the brand Donald Stanley - she handmade all sorts of kimonos, dresses and trousers which were amazing. I have bought and worn a lot of her stuff. Sadly she isn't making any more now.

Also, as awful as it can be, Shein is great for plus size clothes especially summer wear.

@BessieSurtees Thank you ☺️ I have a couple of swimsuits and a couple of tankinis from Panache that fit me so I’m happy taking those.

I have a pair of black linen shorts. I was thinking of picking up another colour and a few casual tops, then a few casual dresses and this should do for daytime. We have a young child so will be chilled beach/pool days and time at the park etc rather than anything fancy.

For by the pool at our hotel I was thinking maybe a loose longline linen shirt as a coverup?

Thanks for the suggestion for Moda 👍🏻 I had a quick shifty on Vinted last night but there was so much crap from Shein that I soon gave up 🤣 I’ll need to be more specific with my searches ☺️

@NeedForSpeedyGonzales Thanks so much for the recommendation- it’s not a brand I’ve used before so I’ll have a good browse on Vinted etc ☺️

I see the odd nice looking item popping up on social media from Shein but it’s definitely not somewhere I would shop so I’ll give that a miss 😅
