Apricot, good or bad?

I almost bought this Apricot coatigan off vinted. Thank goodness I missed it. I saw it in a shop and the quality was terrible. Thin, awful material
There are a couple of things I like on their website but am now wary. Is the quality generally poor, I know it's a cheaper brand but that was Temu type quality

Apricot, good or bad?

I have come across this label in my local charity shop. I would say that the quality was poor, and the material was synthetic.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 31/12/2025 15:27

They've been around for years and I don't think they've ever been good. Synthetic, thin, badly manufactured (wobbly seams and hems, iffy pattern matching), cheap, itchy, see-through, surprisingly sweaty.

AwkwardPaws27 · 31/12/2025 15:32

I think they sell Apricot in New Look as a concession? If it the one I'm thinking of, I've seen nice designs and picked them up, but I've never actually bought anything as very synthetic and the quality didn't feel good.

gryffindor1979 · 31/12/2025 15:34

Had a couple of winter dresses and a waffle jumpsuit thingy which wore and washed quite well !

ModernLife1sRubbish · 31/12/2025 16:45

There's an Apricot at Bluewater and the quality isn't great.

Puppylucky · 31/12/2025 17:23

I bought a couple of skirts over the summer which were lovely. Fabrics may not be the best but some of the designs are really interesting/ stylish

LonginesPrime · 31/12/2025 17:29

To echo PPs, I have always seen them as good for some interesting and novel designs but their clothes aren’t really made to last.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 31/12/2025 17:31

There is a store in Bath, I really like the designs but the quality is def hit and miss, got a lovely maxi dress in the summer.

MissyB1 · 31/12/2025 17:32

I always buy a couple of dresses there each summer, that’s what they do best in my opinion - summer wear. I got a lot of compliments on my dresses whilst on holiday last summer.

firstofallimadelight · 31/12/2025 17:41

I think it depends, I’ve bought some lovely flowery dresses from them and most recently a pair of jeans that fit better than any I’ve owned from ‘better’ brands.

LavenderBlue19 · 31/12/2025 17:44

Generally poor quality, yes. It's a shame because I often like their designs, but I hate cheap fabric.

Some dresses are ok - they're thin cotton or more likely viscose and feel nicer than the polyester stuff.

EvelynBeatrice · 31/12/2025 17:45

It’s like anywhere else nowadays. You have to be selective. There’s a lot of synthetic rubbish but occasionally a lovely 100 per cent cotton dress or even a decent viscose.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 31/12/2025 17:49

I have some lovely summer dresses from them at a reasonable price.

Gettingbysomehow · 31/12/2025 17:56

I bought a couple of items and they are garbage. Terrible quality and fit like bin bags.

smallsilvercloud · 31/12/2025 18:20

I’ve only bought summer dresses recently from there, I am pleased with quality, better than newlook and H&M

ArwenUndomniel · 01/01/2026 07:37

Yes, they're mostly a concession within department stores or New Look - I've never seen a dedicated Apricot shop, although I assume they exist somewhere. Like pp say, they do some lovely summer dresses that are fine for taking on holiday but I wouldn't buy "knitwear" from there because it's all artificial fibres that don't feel very nice. I was briefly tempted by a pair of sequinned red velvet shorts they had in this winter but when I tried them on they were shedding sequins even in the fitting room so I gave them a miss.

PersephoneParlormaid · 01/01/2026 07:39

I used to buy their dresses from Debenhams, when it was open. Not the best material, but I was happy with what I bought.

Frannyisreading · 01/01/2026 08:39

I've got a gorgeous jumper from there. A friend asked if it was Oliver Bonas.

Fixydodah · 01/01/2026 10:40

It’s hit and miss. I bought a really thick cotton jumper from there a few years back, I will be wearing it tomorrow when the very cold weather hits. It was cheap but doesn’t look it. And has lasted. I would only buy from a store not online to check quality - they have a concession in a department store that I visit. Or got to their stand alone store in Bluewater. There is a lot of synthetic to Wade through with the occasional gem, just like the other cheaper chains.

Yeah I have a jumper I bought from there that I do wear all the time but its so static-y and bobbly, but it kind of fits the grungy look I was going for and is incredibly comfortable.

henlake7 · 01/01/2026 19:50

I think they are ok. Bought a couple of bits on Vinted and they are quite nice.
Like alot of cheaper brands though I don't think they are really worth full price, sales or secondhand though I'm happy to buy.

scrivette · 01/01/2026 19:53

I think you have to be selective. I have a few cotton dresses from there which are lovely, wash well and I get complimented on.

Oliver Bonas design is good - but the fabrics are usually poor which means that you’re usually not getting much for the mark-up in price.

CrushingOnRubies · 02/01/2026 13:07

I have a couple of bits from apricot. Ok not the best quality but I like their style and the items have lasted well. I have some of party / going out dresses so not worn regularly but have lasted
