Waterproof padded coat recommendation

Bluebellrain12 · 31/12/2025 09:28

Hello
I am looking for recommendations for a very warm, very waterproof (not water resistant) padded coat that is under £100. Ideally around knee length.
Thank you so much!

Unfortunately those 3 requirements tend not to work well together.

Best bet is to try an outdoors outlet type place eg Trespass for a reduced price jacket.

Smallorveryfaraway · 31/12/2025 10:06

Yep, as per pp, walking stores or equestrian. Mine is from craghoppers, which is the same company as regatta. Seasalt could be an option too.

brennanbones · 31/12/2025 10:13

There’s some seasalt ones under £100, one for £60 if you’re a size 8 or 10

seasalt x

I recently got a Sweaty Betty nimbus on vinted for £100. Definitely warm and definitely waterproof. I wasn’t keen on the regatta/trespass ones because I wanted one that was very long (almost to my ankles). However, I just wasn’t willing to pay full price.

I’m selling my old Marks stormwear puffer and tbh that was pretty good in the rain. They retail for around £100 new.

I’ve just read your post again- go for Trespass- in stores like Boyes and Yorkshire Trading. You’ll find them on good offers and they are warm and waterproof.

LozzaCh0ps · 31/12/2025 10:17

I got a Didrikons parka in the sale for £105-ish. I’ve never had a better coat, it’s SO warm and the rain just runs off it! Might not be exactly what you want but it ticks a few boxes!

You need the Trespass Audrey - £39.99 on M&M Direct Cheap Womens Trespass Jackets & Coats - UK Sale | MandM. had mine 3 years and just about to buy in another colour. It's my go-to on dog walks & pitch side in the winter whatever the weather - I have been out in torrential rain and stayed dry plus warm enough in freezing weather. Recommend you size up at least 1 size - I am a size 12/14 and bought an XL on my friends advice. It's big enough I can wear a hoody under it but not ridiculous if I'm just in a T-shirt (it's very warm so only wear a jumper in really cold weather). I'm 5ft 6 and it sits below the knee so with my knee boots can stay complety dry. Honestly you won't be disappointed espcially for the price.

Not specifically on that one, but I did try on a lot of mountain warehouse waterproofs recently and they seemed pretty good. I think for proper full on actual waterproofness, that style (puffer with waterproof over the top) is probably safest.

willsandnoodle · 31/12/2025 11:24

Didriksons! I did pay £250 for it, but I wear it all the time and it’s amazing. You could Klarna pay to spread the cost? I always think a decent coat is worth investing in and for £250 (which is my absolute max) the didriksons is 10/10. I have the Antje parka

muddyford · 31/12/2025 12:55

I'm wearing a Lands End Squall parka. They have a sale on atm.

TheDandyLion · 31/12/2025 13:00

I bought second hand Dickriksons for £50 on Vinted, almost perfect condition.

FollowSpot · 31/12/2025 13:07

Have a look on Cotswold Outdoors sale - the Ayacucho Parka / Coats are good. Not as warm as a puffer coat but very waterproof , windproof and are padded / insulated so you can layer up underneath.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 31/12/2025 13:10

I'm wearing a Lands End Squall parka. They have a sale on atm.

Worth looking on ebay too, even cheaper. I like Lands End bc they do petite sizes.

miamo12 · 31/12/2025 13:11

Not sure they truly exist, padded = not waterproof. But I had a long line waterproof jacket and separate padded longer line coat that fastened together or could be worn separately from mountain warehouse a few years ago, the Alaskan … still sell them and on sale. Not as long as knee length but very waterproof

@DisplayPurposesOnly Do you have a link for the EBay outlet for Lands end please? I can never find these things.

Many thanks

DisplayPurposesOnly · 31/12/2025 20:02

@Themuddleup , sorry I didn't mean a Lands End outlet on ebay. Merely people selling their cast-offs, so just search Lands End + your size. There are definitely a few squall parkas on there currently which look to be in very good nick (and various other LE coats).

I second this. I have 2 of these and they are great.
Trespass coats are fantastic IMO. Both kids wear them as they are warm, waterproof and windproof. I also usually get them at M&M for bargain prices. They last and wash so well too.

Avariceagain · 31/12/2025 22:04

I have this one in blue- it's great. Properly waterproof (its 10,000 rated and more than that is rare) and I take the liner out in spring/autumn so it's a really useful coat. I looked at a lot before I got it and I don't think you will get a better one for the price. Make sure you wash it with proper tek wash to keep it waterproof

pod100 · 03/01/2026 20:12

Slightly over your budget but I bought this recently and it’s ideal. Didricksons, waterproof and really warm without being quilted. So far it’s perfect and I’ve had a few people ask where I bought it from. It was in the sale at £170 in the Cotswolds store but much cheaper on this website. I’d say they’re on the large side too so I’d order your size and a size down to see which is best www.alpinetrek.co.uk/didriksons-womens-elena-parka-coat/

Dollos · 04/01/2026 09:44

Animal Cloud are in the sale, and Regatta ones. Both water repellent
