New trainer styles for 2026

My everyday trainers (onitsuka tigers) need replacing and I’m wondering what with. I basically wear them most days with everything and so I want them to work for most of 2026. I am not a slave to fashion but equally don’t want to be walking round in trainers that are very solidly “last year”. I looked up the next styles in trainers and felt pretty depressed - some of this list nearly made me vomit!!

anyway what new trainers would you get right now if you needed some?

Are yellow lines bad?

Too fun for how i want to appear at work!

Please someone buy those Shearling ones and put them together with an outfit, as I currently have no idea how you would wear them!

Some of those Mary Jane trainers are giving me Hotter Shoes vibes

Divebar2021 · 03/01/2026 00:28

Oh I’m not loving most of those. I tend to buy based
on colour way and shape rather than brand and avoid anything too super hot because I don’t want to
wear exactly the same shoe as everyone else and I want them to last longer than one year. My more recent buys were ASICS and some Keen Jaspers. I’m resisting some Flower mountains but I will probably change the laces in my Keens to emulate them a little bit. I quite like the shape of some of the Norman Walsh shoes which seem quite slimline and I like they’re British but I can’t find a colour way I like so I’m refraining.

I like the ballet flat ones. Great for summer without socks!

I’m tempted by the Puma ballet ones. I think they’d look good with cotton dresses and midi skirts, which is pretty much what I wear in spring and summer.

I have the cowskin ones from Autumn. Absolutely love them and hope I can still wear them when spring comes around.

sporty ballet flat styles are still trending, are not as 'heavy' as full trainers, and go well with skirts, dresses, shorts, balloon trousers, jeans, etc. I might buy a pair of those. I also like wedge trainers, they always feel a bit edgy. I still have some mesh adidas ones from fifteen years ago; I'll drag them out.

I'm glad someone else is excited about a wedge trainer resurgence. I have two pairs of Puma Alexander McQueen wedge midcuts from 2014 that I'm dying to get out and start wearing again! 😅

CoastalGrey · 03/01/2026 07:17

Ash trainers! Those are what the wedge ones remind me of. I’m not sure why I ever thought they were nice with all the ugly buckles.

Clockyclockz · 03/01/2026 09:41

I was trying to remember the name of those wedge ones, Ash! I hated them then, I don’t mind the Marant ones.

Clockyclockz · 03/01/2026 09:45

I bought the below yesterday, had being looking at them for a while.

Need to try them on with various trousers and see if I like them

Interested in this as I was thinking of buying a pair of Onitsuka tiger Mexico 66 for this year OP! Do you think they are now out of date @moresneakers ?

I've been wearing New Balance 327 for 2 years and they are the comfiest trainers ever and still look good so I wil keep wearing them but wanted to invest in something new come spring.

DancingNotDrowning · 03/01/2026 17:57

I loved the Isabel Marant wedge heels first time round (I recall DMBL40 was obsessed with them too!).

they were reissued last year and my 22yr old DD was desperate to get a pair but they sold out v quickly - they’re now all over the high street.
