Tell me what PJs / Loungewear to buy for maternity leave

I’m due to go on mat leave for my first baby in the next couple of months. I am planning on breastfeeding. Would like some comfy round the house clothes to wear so I feel at least like I am in fresh clothes / PJs each day. I’m 6ft and quite long legged.

Soft brushed leggings on Amazon. Then any top you like.

Thanks! Any particular leggings you’ve got in mind you could link?

i still constantly wear my black bamboo maternity pyjamas from Seraphine, bought when my now 7 year old was born. I love them so much I bought 3 pairs in total (I also have a 2 year old !) they are soft, comfortable and excellent at adapting to your temperature. Unfortunately the brand has been discontinued/reduced but you can still get them in other colours from Next. I would recommend them very highly! https://www.next.co.uk/style/su952572/w10242

Great thank you. I’m assuming the “hand wash only” instruction can be ignored ? 🤣

Oh 100%! I've been washing machining them and tumble drying for nearly five years and they are good as new 😂

The navy M&S PJs with the white piping. I got bought these after my first child, and now buy them for all friends when they have a baby…they’re amazing!

I would just wear whatever pJs and lounge wear you normally wear really, the only thing you'd need to change would be nighties I guess. I mostly wore my usual PJs right through my pregnancies and beyond. For breastfeeding I just lift the t-shirt up. If I wanted to get dressed out of PJs e.g getting visitors but was just at home I wore loose fitting t-shirts and leggings but this is what I'd wear in those circumstances anyway really. You don't really need anything specific.

IAmNotPrepared · 29/12/2025 22:49

I’m 7 weeks PP and am wearing loose t shirts I owned before on top, because I just lift it up or pull it down to BF. I’m back into my old comfy leggings and sweatpants so didn’t need new ones. There’s no point in spending loads because you’ll be so covered in spit up and leaked milk that you’ll be needing to throw them in the wash constantly anyway, if my experience is anything to go by! More important was high waisted comfy knickers to go over my emergency c section scar (luckily has some from pregnancy but that wasn’t expected!) and nursing bras, including ones to sleep in so I can wear breast pads!

For PJs I’m wearing the H&M viscose blend pyjamas - they aren’t too expensive, they look nice, wash well, are incredibly soft, and button. I bought them in my third trimester and they have so much stretch they still fit perfectly now despite the loss of my huge bump. They were great in hospital too!
