Is a vintage cape hideous?

I'm really tempted to get a vintage cape. I think they are great! But will I look like an eccentric bag lady? I'm 55, 5'8 and a size 14. This is the sort of thing...

There's a great twice-yearly vintage fair here in Edinburgh called A Spoonful of Vintage, & I've been very tempted by Scottish mohair ones before, but restrained myself. Now I seem to have (yet again) gone down a rabbit hole & spotted so many gorgeous kinds - & veering in several directions from the OP's original post - but it's been fun looking!! I might just have to get one myself ...

I wear capes all the time! I love them! I have plain ones and fancy ones and fur (fake) trimmed ones! They make me feel fancy!
