Is a vintage cape hideous?

I'm really tempted to get a vintage cape. I think they are great! But will I look like an eccentric bag lady? I'm 55, 5'8 and a size 14. This is the sort of thing...

My school uniform included a cape too. I still miss it!

I know exactly what you mean. My rule is never to wear anything vintage that I would have been old enough to wear as an adult first time around. Being 58, that means nothing from the mid-80s onwards - but I have stuff from the 30s to 70s, including capes & kaftans!! I always mix with contemporary clothes/footwear/accessories, to keep things looking modern.

I love some of the colours that the Welsh blanket-type capes come in - fab greens/purples/blues etc. I like these ones ...

The one in the picture is lovely. I am biased because Ive always had an interest in vintage fashion and have 3 shops selling it. It would probably look best on someone tall but could overwhelm a small or plump person. If you have the height and figure then go for it!
