Help needed with Shoes!!

I have worn exclusively dresses and skirts for over a decade. My style is kind of witch in the woods /90s floral with big chunky boots and a cardigan.

However recently I have bought some wide leg ankle grazer black trousers and also some dark green cords with a roll up. I was all excited to start wearing trousers again but I have no idea what shoes to wear with them 🤣 my boots look weird due to the trouser length.

Also due to living in tights year round I am at a loss with socks. My daughter says they should be visible now. I am lost.
This seems like a ridiculous problem for a woman in her 40s to have but here we are 🤣

Any hints or tips? Trainers are really not for me but could possibly try sandshoe style Shoes if they would work? They would need to be chunky though.

Brands/ pictures/ any advice gratefully received!!!

I love a good pair of slip on Birkenstocks / UGGs with chunky wool socks / cute patterned socks for a jazzy foot look!

Ooooooh like the closed toe/ backless Birkenstocks? Never thought of them with socks! This is all new territory for me..... 🤣

@kistotreasure yes the closed toe ones! Honestly so comfy, and easy to plop around in. Especially with ankle grazer jeans there’s only a sliver of sock and your heel visible! I wear them with wide leg jeans too and they look good.

Depending on how twee you wanted things, I saw a lady in Mary Jane style shoes that looked like Dr Martens and she had little ankle socks with frills on - she totally pulled it off and it looked so cute!

I was going to suggest chunky Mary Janes or brogues like the DM styles. With frilly or patterned socks. This will be hated by most on MN 😅

I'm very much embracing the visible socks thing. White sports socks in trainers, chunky or finer knit plain coloured socks in my doc marten shoes to tone in with my outfit, or I have a few pairs of fair isle patterned Nordic socks. Also have some sparkly socks from Primark. I am definitely not a cute sock person though, no charcters or "fun designs" for me.
