Plain, non-patterned clothes

Could I please have your recommendations for brands that sell plain clothes?

So many brands are highly patterned and/or very bright which I don't really like. I'm looking in particular for navy, grey, cream and beige tones. It's a lot easier to find plain knitwear but I'm struggling with dresses.

Price range, up to around £150 maximum?

Thank you!

Zara, mango, cos, me & em, mint velvet, all saints, reiss, m&s

Toast might be worth a look - check out Vinted if full price is out of budget. Ditto Me&Em.

I cannot stand Uniqlo but lots of their stuff is plain.

Cos has lots of plain, neutral dresses in interesting/architectural shapes.

I have a gorgeous plan black cotton dress from M&S. M&S is great for inexpensive basics, often in cotton.

Uniqlo

Heckate · 24/12/2025 11:35

Uniqlo, Muji, MHL, Cos, H&M, Primark ...

It's a vague question, @LadyKedleston . We have no idea what sort of clothes you are looking for.

Even Boden, Fat Face and SeaSalt have clothes without patterns.

I don't find that at all.

How can I be less vague for you? I have mentioned price range, colours and lack of pattern.

Cos is my go to for plain staples. I agree with uniglo too.

Heckate · 24/12/2025 11:47

@LadyKedleston , do you want a dress, trousers, jumper, top, basics like t-shirts or hoodie, coat ...?
Is the budget for one garment or all of them?
You could try Community Clothing.

Your reply sounded snippy.

Cos

Odd, I almost never wear patterns and most of my clothes are from these. I’m not sure I’ve even ever seen a pattern in Cos.

Heckate · 24/12/2025 12:18

Same here.

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 24/12/2025 12:18

To check I’m not losing my mind I just filtered the next sale in Reiss & Mint Velvet to dresses, there are literally hundreds of plain ones

GrumpySparkler · 24/12/2025 12:21

United colours of Benetton and Gap (bit of a 90s throwback) are both online. I get lots of plain tops and jumpers from both as they do more colours than just navy, grey, black and beige 🎉

MrsEmmelinePankhurst · 24/12/2025 12:23

Arket - have a look at them on ASOS, they have some lovely plain jumpers. I have several!

TopShop (also on ASOS) do good plain sweatshirts.

I thought the same. I love shopping at Cos because it's virtually pattern free!
I've just looked at their website which has 84 dresses and only about 4 have patterns. I missed one because the pattern was so subtle 😂
They have another 6 or so which are bright colours.
