Please recommend me a face cream / moisturiser / lip balm and my face has suddenly gone so dry and I seem to be allergic to everything I’ve used in past!

I definitely cannot use anything with petroleum jelly in it so Vaseline is out for my lips, I’ve got an aqueous cream, I’ve got cerave for my face and nothing is working

I’m suddenly allergic to farmed on my lips and got some blistex but that doesn’t seem to be helping

i have no idea where this sudden dryness has come from but it’s really getting me down and costing me an absolute fortune!

Aveeno face cream might be worth a try

LBB2020 · 17/12/2025 11:33

I have really dry, sensitive skin and the Aveeno calming serum and night cream are lovely (I use the night cream morning and night).
For your lips have you tried lansinoh (spelling could be wrong!) nipple balm?

Tryingatleast · 17/12/2025 11:34

I was coming on to say aveeno too!! That or avene. For lips I’ve no idea though

WhoamItoday11 · 17/12/2025 11:35

La Roche Posay is the only thing that works for me. Recommended by a dermatology nurse.

Littlebuddh · 17/12/2025 13:28

I hear you op i too have reactions to stuff I use to use.

Now I only use sensitive baby soap sensitive baby body wash to shower in now.
And baby shampoo.

The only cream/ moisturiser that my skin will not react to is E45, vaseline and baby sensitive body lotions.

My skin is beyond sensitive and dry so I went to the GP and her advice was to switch to baby stuff, it as helped hugely and it's cheaper.

My skin gets dry and super sensitive particularly at certain times of the year. I use Cerave, buy it in a large pot & use generously on my face & sometimes all over!

jeaux90 · 17/12/2025 13:33

Zoe bee aloe cream. 54 here, dry skin and post menopause I am allergic to everything!! It’s wonderful and working and I just ordered by second pot

Littlebuddh · 17/12/2025 13:44

This is all anyone will find in my bathroom.
Its the only stuff that won't give me a reaction.

Aqueous ream is best used as a cleanser, not a moisturiser. It's a really common misunderstanding

Weirdle · 17/12/2025 14:03

So what might be causing the sudden dryness?

Radiators or other heat sources?

Laundry or skin cleansers?

Change of diet?

Medication?

It would probably be better to work that out as soon as possible.

huuskymam · 17/12/2025 14:16

Have a look at salcura, it's a fairly new product but worked wonders for my eczema and teenage acne for my son.

Scottie1310 · 17/12/2025 15:43

Bondi sands face sunscreen. My face reacts to a lot of things but use this year round and it moisturises and doesn’t give me spots either. Then use watermelon Carmex lip balm stick - not the gel stuff. This time of year normally the change in weather affects my skin but it’s been fine since I started using this xx

ThatMiddleClassFood · 17/12/2025 15:48

La Roche posay cicaplast B5 balm
Weleda skin food if your skin can handle it it is very scented.
For lips try lanolips it's the best lip balm ever or you can just buy a big lasinoh nipple balm it's the same thing but I feel weird pulling nipple balm out of my bag at work so I keep that for at home.

HormonalRollercoaster · 17/12/2025 16:28

Weleda skin food - a friend recommended it to me when I was having similar issues and it’s amazing! I use it every morning and night.

sophiasnail · 18/12/2025 13:52

Astral cream! You can buy it in Tesco for £5. The formula hasn't changed since 1953 because it's excellent already!

UpMyself · 18/12/2025 14:08

Eat good oils. Don't use scented products like fabric conditioner, skincare etc. Use a cleanser and moisturiser, no more. Shampoo gets on your face so go for a gentle one. Baby products and organic products aren't necessarily gentle.

Seeprez · 09/03/2026 13:46

zejaskincare intense face plant, it saves my face, lips and hands. And I’m outdoors a lot! From cycling to climbing, I’ve got the whole family using it.

I use Cetaphil moisturising cream for dry/very dry skin, but I also layer eucerin aquaphor over it at night, which is quite greasy but really helps me. My much drier than normal at the moment and I always have very dry skin. Not sure why it is like it now. It is very annoying.
