Jeans help

i want a Jean which is something between a wide leg and a straight leg. A relaxed straight or narrow wide.

needs to be high waisted and come in a short length.

i am a very heavily thighed pear shape and I find I fill up the thigh on a lot of straight legs and it clings. Wide legs work well but can swamp if too wide. Barrel literally look ridiculous on me - legs too short and volume in the wrong place.

any suggestions welcome.

Do you mean you want jeans not ‘a Jean’?

Devilsmommy · 12/12/2025 08:56

Superdry do nice wide legs that aren't too flappy round the legs. I've got the carpenter ones, they're perfect. I'm tall and slim so don't like them too baggy myself

I have just bought these from Next. Not sure if they are exactly what you want as they are close fitting at the top, but being short they are the perfect length in petite size.

Fatface Carmel is a relaxed straight with a not-too-low waist. Might not be wide enough leg for you, but they do have wider styles and choice of leg length

FringeyBlonde · 12/12/2025 09:33

Try Abercrombie - they do short length, high rise in a 90s straight / relaxed style. Lots of different shades too! They do a ‘curve love’ range which gives you extra space on the thigh and hip so you don’t have a gappy waist. The best!

myladyjane · 12/12/2025 09:47

Thanks all. @Butthechildrentheylovethebooks I think I’ve tried those and they were too tight at the top but I did like them before I tried and they fit well length and waist wise.

@NotbloodyGivingupYet I did look at those too but all sold out online and I’m doing some vicarious shopping from my sick bed. They do look similar to what to what I want.

@Devilsmommy I never think to
look in superdry. Will check it out

@FringeyBlonde I have been looking at these (and also the Sloane work trousers). That may be where I start tbh although again my size seems to sell out a lot. I just need to pounce I think.

much appreciated

Tesco!! Honestly, their jeans are so good and they have all leg length and widths

slowraindrop · 12/12/2025 11:27

Have you tried the River Island relaxed straight jeans? I’d say they meet your brief!

autumn1610 · 13/12/2025 17:47

Depends how much you want to spend. I love the Levi rib cage straight jeans

NotMeNoNo · 13/12/2025 18:08

I've literally tried on the Levi's ribcage straight crop this afternoon. They weren't too high even though I'm quite short waisted. The 29 inch was full length on me (5'3"). Button fly and a little stretch. They're definitely on my list. Lots of sizes too.

TealReader · 13/12/2025 23:31

Abercrombie Curve Love 90s relaxed or Levi ribcage straight ankle. Size down for Abercrombie). I often buy them on vinted as they sell out super fast,,

Chocolateteabag · 14/12/2025 03:30

If you use the Levi’s app and “join” their club - you get free postage and returns, plus a lot more feedback on sizing

im a similar shape but taller - the ribcage bell work for me - but had to order several sizes to get the right fit
