Help me S&B'ers! I'm looking for an outfit for my 50th birthday party. Daytime-to-evening drinks/food at home type thing. 40ish people. January (but my house is warm)
I veer towards jeans classic, 'neat', timeless dressing I suppose. Things like wide leg and barrel trousers, fine knit merino jumpers, cashmere, brogues, trainers. Lots of darker colours (black, dark jewel or earthy tones).
I'm size 10, hourglass. Flat stomach, wider lumpy hips. Arms are ok.
I want to look like I've made an effort but not massively overdressed. I was thinking of a long skirt in a more interesting/dressy fabric (e.g. saw a tulle one in M&S yesterday, but that may be OTT), pattern or colour, plus a neat fitted top (e.g. just a very well fiting black top) and some flat shoes? Any other suggestions gratefully received, as well as of specific items.
I don't have much of a budget. Probably max £150 for the whole thing. I've already got fitted tops I could wear, but no appropriate skirts or shoes!
