Melting face

I'm 46 and is my face is melting. I've got awful jowls and my already hooded eyes are getting really bad. You cant see my eye lids at all anymore. It all just seems to have come on overnight.
My jaw line is fine and wrinkle wise I'm fine.
Any suggestions?
I know I'm pore-y and always have been. My lips are starting to disappear too but I dont want fillers so they are what they are. I have never smoked but have always had a degree of wrinkly lips that don't really show on the photos.

Eta - I'm 3st over weight and have recently started to address that. I'm concerned that it will make my face even worse. Despite the photos my face isn't at all chubby irl.

What’s the question?

I’m not an expert but if you don’t want dermal fillers then I think your options are: a face lift or leave it.

I would never get a face lift (as I react very badly to surgery), but what is your objection to fillers? Did you mean lip fillers or dermal fillers?

What would you like to happen? Your skin looks good to me!!

No advice, but here in solidarity. I'm 61 and my face is the same but worse - though I do wish Id taken an interest earlier! I've started using a gentle Byoma retinol oil each night and that seems be helping with the pores and general texture, but lines and sagging is as bad as ever .. I don't think much can solve those apart from surgery!

It's gutting because my gran only looks about 20yrs older than me and my mum has hardly any jowels. How unfair is that!

But, being very bitchy for a moment: my brother is 5 years younger than me and looks haggered. He's not had a hard life etc so it's just how he's aging. Clearly we did not get the good genes.

I'd get a small amount of filler in your marionette lines.

Gettingbysomehow · 10/12/2025 09:23

Yes it will get worse when you lose weight. I've lost 5 stone on mounjaro and my neck and jowls look much worse. Im off to Lithuania for a full facelift in May. There is no way round it.

ChikinLikin · 10/12/2025 09:24

In my opinion you have really lovely lips and your skin is fine.

lickingfingertastingfood · 10/12/2025 09:24

It's your downturned mouth that you are noticing probably . A good practitioner can use Botox or filler to tackle this .

I don't understand though how you are saying your jawline is fine but you have awful jowls? The two are hand in hand.

As regards your eyes sometimes Botox is used to elevate the area of your eyebrows. There is of course a blepharoplasty as a final resort.

ChikinLikin · 10/12/2025 09:26

And you obviously look even better when smiling / talking etc. Nobody irl sees your face still and emotionless.

Edited

My jaw line really is fine. Dont tell me that's going to go downhill as fast!

As mentioned by pp, you can get 3 small Botox injections on the corners of your mouth, which makes the corners neutral, not turned down. It makes a big difference. I hate Botox but if I don’t do this I get resting bitch face, even when I’m not angry…..but I agree - avoid Botox on anything else!

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 10/12/2025 13:07

I am naturally jowl-y. It got worse when I lost some weight because of loose skin.

I have had ultherapy for my wrinkly neck (very painful) and thread lifts for my jowls (very, very unpleasant) and they do work but the effects are only temporary,( about 2 years on me) before I'm back at the start. I've been doing it for about 10 years and I won't be doing it again when the current treatments wear off. I'm in my sixties now and I think my face staying firm while my body ages would look unnatural .

Treatments I will persist with are Botox to lift my droopy eyelids and soften my crows feet and hyaluronic acid in my lip line to stop the vertical grooves over lips. They aren't too painful and give a subtle freshening rather than anti aging effect.

lickingfingertastingfood · 10/12/2025 14:25

So your jowls are not like this?

Lovemycat2023 · 10/12/2025 14:42

I’m almost the same age as you with similar issues (except I probably need to lose a bit less weight, and am failing to do so).

I had cheek filler a couple of years ago. Quite subtle, especially for the cost, but did make me feel fresher although small jowls in place still.

IndieRocknRoll · 10/12/2025 22:30

Going against the grain but I lost 1.5st earlier this year and I think my lower face definitely looks better. My saggy jowls and marionette lines have definitely improved and my jaw is more defined.
sadly they’ve been replaced by a crepey neck!

suki1964 · 10/12/2025 22:43

Smile and laugh more , it helps keep the facial muscles fit which helps slow down the facial drop

My resting face looks a lot older then my happy face

soupyspoon · 10/12/2025 22:47

Im saving for a face lift, menopause and weight loss has done for me

Bit scared of it

Also if you are planning that, dont have fillers or botox or anything, they like to work on a face thats never had anything done to it.

I think it’s sad hat we have to shove our faces full of horrible carcinogens just to prevent visible signs of ageing. Surely there’s pleasure to be had in getting older and embracing it?

what carcinogens ?

ticktockitsNCtime · 10/12/2025 23:56

I’m starting to look like a melting candle, and, like you described it seemed to happen quite suddenly. I’ve got one hooded eyelid from the side I sleep on. I’m going to get a face lift - I can’t be bothered to mess around with Botox and fillers.

We don’t “have” to do anything, but some of us choose to, and that’s fine as well. Yes, ageing is a privilege denied to many bla bla bla but there are aspects of ageing that I choose to try and do something about. That’s why I’m on HRT, for example. And it’s why I like the idea of a facelift.

Touty · 11/12/2025 02:03

@Gettingbysomehow lithuania? How much is it there?

Ruthietuthie · 11/12/2025 02:27

If you smile, the corners of your mouth go up and your cheeks will lift. When you look in the mirror, critically, frowning, you see "melting face." But in real life, when your face is animated, that's not what people see - you look much, much better.
You have lovely clear skin and nice lips.

Just about to ask same question....

DeftGoldHedgehog · 11/12/2025 02:35

Going to the gym is also a workout for your face. Losing weight, though not too much, will help, but your face has muscles too which need a workout to keep good muscle tone.

CombatBarbie · 11/12/2025 02:44

Im bit similar to you OP. Whilst I await divorce settlement to get money for a face-lift, I have had botox around my eyes to lift my hoods but have also started lymphatic drainage massages on my whole face. Just google and go to images, fairly straight forward.

Threading was the non surgical facelift a couple of years ago but its now very not advised to have these if you think you may have a facelift in the future.

Also started using tretronion, started with skin and me on trial basis, now buy online for much cheaper and use alongside hyaluronic acid and niamicide which you can pick up in any boots, super drug, primark etc.
