Glue on nails

I’d not really paid much attention until now but there are shelves of stick on/glue on nails so obviously a huge market but I don’t know anyone who uses them.

Is it a young person thing?

Do they work? Any recommendations?

I use nail wraps (stickers). I'm crap with nail varnish and cannot be bothered to or want to pay to get gels done. The wraps last a few days for me which is amazing considering polish lasts about 20 mins before it's chipped. I think some people can get a week or more out of them.

They also do gel wraps that you need a lamp for but I avoid those because of the allergy risks.

I have recently discovered gel nail stickers that don't require a lamp and am a total convert. They lasted more than 2 weeks, took 10 mins to put on and I was able to just peel them off when I wanted to get rid of them. My nails underneath were fine and in good condition. I got mine from a website on a Black Friday deal and think they worked out about £8 a set so an amazing saving too. I won't be going back to the salon!

I buy cheap stick on nails and have a drawer full of different styles and colours, love them. I use a heavy duty superglue type glue and they last around a week. Once the glue has had enough of being tough they just ping off quite easily, quick wipe with polish remover and a couple of days of nail oil and nails are great again.

This sounds great, and fun.

Off to google nail oil 😁

If you clean your nails with rubbing alcohol before sticking them on they should last a bit longer. They do for me.

What glue are you using please? Just bought a packet from Primark today to try for Christmas but maybe will want better glue than what’s in the box?

I have a cheap superglue 😀 sounds horrendous but it works, they stay on ages and it just chips off when i am done. No damage to my nails yet.

I am a recent convert to stick on nails having had salon gel nails for years. I bought some glue off amazon as it's so much easier to apply with a brush than the tubes you get with the nails.

I struggled to remove the first set and ripped off the tip of one of my nails in the process.

They can ping off quite easily and out of nowhere so I always take the packet of remaining nails and glue out with me just in case! I've had to put one on on a train and in the loo of a restaurant.

I actually had to check your name as I thought I’d written this post 😂 I’ve been using candy claws. They generally look amazing but I panic one will ping off when I’m cooking. I currently have a very sore nail where the end ripped off. Mostly they come off easily but it was so painful I don’t think I can buy them again.

I use the Sassy Saints gel wraps. They are already cured, and they come on a piece of plastic that you peel off and stick onto your nail. It is really easy. I find the sparkly ones stay on better - I can get over two weeks from them. Use the oil to remove them so that your nails don't get damaged. Much easier on your nails than the gel nails where you have to cure them under a UV lamp. Everyone remarks on my nails now. And it is SO easy. I am not great at things like nail varnish, and this is very straightforward. I use nail clippers rather than scissors to take off the excess amount of gel wrap.

Squirrelchops1 · 13/12/2025 18:19

I'm using Holy Gels which are wraps but WITH the UV lamp to cure. Honestly theyre not far off salon quality and this was my first ever attempt. I'm really impressed.

For nail glue I get NailBond from Amazon in a white bottle with bright pink label, it's £8.50 and the strongest ever. It also comes in handy for fixing all sorts of things around the house as it is stronger than super glue and dries in about 3 seconds.

Anjelika · 14/12/2025 16:35

I've just removed a set without taking the tips of any of my natural nails off at the same time! Can I ask what people use to get the glue residue off your natural nails? Ordinary nail polish remover does nothing. I have used the coarse side of an emery board but don't feel that has done my nails much good!

I bought some cheap wraps off Amazon but need my nails to be a bit longer and all the same length before I can try them.

HardworkSendHelp · 14/12/2025 16:37

I have just discovered them in the last month!! Love them. I do a job that I have to have short nails for and I love popping them on at the weekend.

blankcanvas3 · 14/12/2025 18:01

If you clean your nails with nail polish remover (even if your nails don’t have polish on) and then buff your nail so that the glue has something to cling to, the stick on nails will last a couple of weeks even with a cheapy Primark glue

OldSchoolCasualty · 14/12/2025 18:39

I use the Kiss brush on glue from boots, £3.50 and my 90p stick on primark nails usually last 2 weeks! currently I'm on day 18 of the same set.
