Interview outfit?

I’m trying to move out of education and into a more corporate environment. What do people wear for interviews these days, especially when shortish, size 14-16 and almost 50?

My style is jeans/ plain t or Seasalt normally. But will need something different ‘ business casual’ has been suggested.

I will need to shop for at least some new shoes but I have a very limited budget at the moment.

What should I be looking at?

Depends … Monied, stylish corporate, or dull corporate?

When you say ‘limited budget’ do you mean:

Smart Works

limited, or

Uniqlo

limited, or:

Cos

limited? I would suggest buying mainstream clothes as far as possible.

Probably Uniqlo- as long as I can use some of what I have already. I’m thinking wide leg trousers and flat shoes?

Or possibly a dress and jacket?

Have you actually secured an interview or two? The best way to assess the dress code at any particular place is to look them up, online or (better) in person. Then if you come back and say Everyone was wearing impossibly beautiful suits or They all wore chinos and loafers posters could suggest the best sources to help you blend in.
