Waterproof puffer coat

Looking for a warm Waterproof puffer style duvet coat. Definitely not black, and want a long coat not a short thigh length one. Seen lots that are shower proof. Couple on the
Seasalt website and they £200, little bit above my budget but willing to stretch for perfect coat. Are the Seasalt puffer coats properly waterproof? Don't want a Janelle seasalt coat. Thanks for any suggestions

The thing is puffer coats are usually stuffed with down, and down isn't waterproof, usually just water resistant/shower proof. I could be wrong, but I think you either have to have a shower proof puffer, or a properly waterproof Seasalt type coat.

i think you're right @CharlotteRumpling you don't tend to get waterproof puffer jackets. You either need a down puffer with a waterproof jacket over the top or something waterproof more like a parka.

That makes sense. I'd really like a long navy smart ish waterproof coat. Don't want a thigh length one, and I can easily wear a jumper underneath. Any suggestion's thanks ?

Try Protected Species?

Love my didriksons antje, so cosy and warm I don’t need much underneath. But one coat doesn’t really do it all. The antje is good for cold and wet, but too warm if it’s not really cold.
I have other coats that do the job for different temperatures and conditions - I have a long, thin down one for layering or milder cold, and a nice waterproof I can wear over the top or by itself. Then a wool coat for cold and dry and a bit smarter.. I don’t think there is one coat to do it all.

I’ve got a Navahoo long puffer jacket which is decently waterproof. Zalando have a good selection but Amazon sell them too.
I have this one in brown. It’s knee length on me (5’8) and they have some longer ones.

I got a sweaty betty waterproof puffer in the black Friday sales. It's like wearing a sleeping bag. It is properly waterproof and windproof too. I usually get Landsend, but their long coat came to the floor on me!

I have this (well last years version): https://www.landsend.co.uk/Womens_Hooded_Maxi_Down_Coat/pp/P_43767.html?dwvar_P__43767_sizeVariation=59&dwvar_P__43767_color=KPI&cgid=14605&pageType=fp&dwvar_P__43767_size=S
Just noticed it says water resistant not water proof, but I wore it in the torrential rain last week and stayed dry. Just a heads up though, the model must be super tall as I'm 5'7" and the regular length comes to about 4 inches above my ankles.

Seasalt sale generally starts about a week before Christmas so might be worth looking then at their coats. There also may be some in their eBay shop cheaper.

Sesma · 09/12/2025 17:19

They are £88 with coupon code on Seasalt eBay store but unfortunately only black by the look of it

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 09/12/2025 17:27

Mine is from next, it’s not down, I’m allergic. Caveat says shower proof but it is waterproof. I’ve had it since lockdown!

Another vote for get a properly waterproof coat and a down jacket to go underneath it for cold days. One coat can never do it all. (The M&S down jackets are nice, and easily findable on Vinted to save a bit of money.)

Can't go wrong with Didrikson or Seasalt.
