Good quality men's black-tie trousers with a vertical stripe down the side that don't cost the earth - where would you go?

Just that really...

Budget up to £200 - £250 at a pinch.

Good quality men's black evening trousers with a vertical stripe down the side - the kind of thing you wear with black tie.

Where would you go? Any links greatly appreciated. Or London shops. Huge thanks

Marks and Spencer have very decent ones. I have also bought from Moss’s tuxedo trouser collection

If you want a more luxe experience than a massive felicity from M&S to try and are in Lodnon, go to Suit Supply who have nice stuff and do inexpensive alternations if you have a more unusual shape to fit

If it is for a young person, I would hesitate to buy dry clean only black tie trousers, from bitter experience

Rollercoaster1920 · 08/12/2025 09:54

It can be hard to get a decent match with an existing jacket if that is why you are asking just for trousers. Charity shops often have tix suits. Hardly worn bit grown out of.

FrangipaniBlue · 08/12/2025 09:55

next, M&S or Moss

tobee · 14/12/2025 18:42

What's a "massive felicity from M&S"?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 14/12/2025 19:45

Try Slater's, I think the store is Manchester only but looks like they have a website.

CMOTDibbler · 14/12/2025 19:47

Vinted. I'm selling a couple of pairs on there at the moment that dh has dieted out of which are superb quality but will go for under £50

loveyouradvice · 15/12/2025 12:31

@CMOTDibbler Sounds fab... any chance they'd work for a 6ft 1 man with a 34in waist... guessing prob not given they were pre-weight loss?? Congrats to DH ...

How often will he wear them, is it a one off which you could hire. Is he wearing a jacket.

CMOTDibbler · 15/12/2025 12:51

@loveyouradvicealas not, the really beautiful ones are 38 waist, but would be perfect in the leg!
He did get his best evening suit in the New and Lingwood sale, and it is incredible

BiddyPopthe2nd · 15/12/2025 17:43

DH got a full tux (trousers and jacket) from M&S for €250ish about 15 years ago and it’s still perfect. It comes out 1-2 most years, sometimes more, for a mix of events.

DancingNotDrowning · 15/12/2025 19:30

DS got his dinner suit from M&S they have two versions a standard or wool mix and come in slim fit and regular fit plus different trouser lengths.

excellent quality and fit
