Hi
I've seen a couple of threads with people saying that these supplements have helped their skin

I'd like to try them, but I'd want to try one that I can just put in tea or coffee and it doesn't taste of anything. Does anyone have a recommendation please? Nothing too pricey. Thank you.

I use ancient and brave true (bovine variety). A spoonful in my coffee, no taste. I’ve been taking it over a year and I do think my skin and nails have improved.

MiddleAgedDread · 05/12/2025 17:21

Don’t believe the ones that say they’re unflavoured, there’s definitely a nasty taste to them!

ADHDwifeHP · 05/12/2025 17:48

We use Hunter & Gatherer bovine powder and it’s fine in coffee. My husband’s knees have stopped aching! 😅 my hair is getting compliments…

I'm using Nutrition Geeks and definitely think it's improved my nails and skin elasticity. I can't taste it at all in a cup of tea - but I started taking it when friend passed it on because she couldn't stand the taste of it. So I think it's a personal thing. Sorry that!s probably not helpful!

I will look up those brands, thank you

2nd vote for nutrition geeks, the glow formula one. Can’t taste in in coffee or juice!
My hair is definitely thicker and nails grow faster, been taking it for 5+ months.

I use Inspiriko marine. Used to put it in my tea but it has a slight vanilla flavour which I didn't like with tea. Now I use half a glass of warm water which I drink a couple hours later - it's virtually tasteless the longer you leave it.

I have been on it since the beginning of the year and don't really think it's done anything for my skin but the improvements to my strength, suppleness and general mobility have been unmistakeable and remarkable. Kicked in at about the 4 month mark for me.

There are different types of collagen so have a look at what you're after. Marine collagen supposedly is the 'beauty' collagen but I've found it to be very hit and miss on taste (about fifty fifty as to whether it's going to smell and taste fishy). If you go down this road look for 'wild caught' or words to that effect. I stick with bovine now, which is pretty undetectable in a coffee and you can't tell it's in a protein shake (though note it's not a complete protein like eg whey is). I'm currently using one from Bulk cos I'm being cheap but it's perfectly acceptable. I've also successfully used hunter and gather. Ideally you want organic, grass fed, independently third party tested for crap...

Ancient and brave for me

lemonraspberry · 05/12/2025 18:54

Ancient and brave for me - use a spoon of both marine & bovine. Use it in my tea and cannot taste it.

Figgygal · 05/12/2025 18:56

Nutrition geeks here
I can taste it something is different but it's almost just creamier rather than bad

TeenLifeMum · 05/12/2025 18:59

Ancient and brave here. I tried marine (wild collagen) and was skeptical but noticed a real difference, went to bovine because it was on sale, went back to marine as I feel it is more impactful. I have it in black coffee or orange juice and cannot taste it at all. I did find it noticeable in tea but only slightly. I’m very picky about tea though.

Whereisthesun99 · 05/12/2025 19:00

Nutrition geeks one here too , I add to my coffee no taste

MyIvyGrows · 05/12/2025 19:02

I use Weider - it was on offer in Costco - and put it in juice or a smoothie, I can taste it in tea.

nails are much stronger and my hairdresser mentioned that my hair is much, much thicker than its been for a while.

teileen276 · 05/01/2026 12:59

Doctor Seaweed here. They do Marine Collagen and I have never been able to tell when its in my coffee. They are a good small business and usually have different discounts on. I'd check for the cheapest as they are in loads of places like Holland and Barrott, Boots and QVC.

shivermetimbers77 · 05/01/2026 13:47

I’ve also been tempted but it’s so pricey.. I would really want to know works much better than placebo before shelling out that much money each month.

muddyford · 05/01/2026 13:54

I'm using marine collagen from Healthspan. One capsule a day, no taste.

teileen276 · 09/01/2026 09:56

I received an email this morning from my collagen provider and they are doing 50% off for the first 3 months if that helps anyone here.

SwallowsandAmazonians · 09/01/2026 10:06

Is there good scientific evidence that collagen works for hair, nails etc? Not dismissing the anecdotes here at all, just wondering.

There is definitely not enough research into it. There is some scientific evidence that collagen modestly helps hair, nails, skin etc. more so then evidence to support bone and muscle health. It does seem to be a hit or miss supplement, some people notice loads of benefits and some never see any :/
