Zip up dressing gown

Defiantly41 · 04/12/2025 21:17

Inspired by the “how old is your dressing gown” thread, I’ve realised mine is absolutely ancient and could do with being replaced. However, I’m fussy. Key requirement is zip through, not wrap over or buttoned. Ideally knee or midi length, not full length as I am a shortie.

And striped, patterned or a bold colour - M & S have just one but the collar and pastel colours make it look too “old lady”

no particular budget although probably not pure cashmere- for wash and wear as I’m prone to spilling coffee and dipping my sleeves into things

can anyone help?

I'm pretty sure David Nieper do zip up ones. They are pricey and a bit dull but very good quality.Correction just had a look and they are very dear but if you think about it, they likely last decades so you might feel it's justified (might)

George at Asda have a nice green one that I saw on their site earlier today.

Defiantly41 · 04/12/2025 22:12

Thank you, the green Asda one is more like the kind of thing, sort of like a less- voluminous Oodie with a zip front. My current one is like that, more like a traditional dressing gown shape with zip front and drawstring waist

Cotton traders and Damart do those.

Ah, Cotton Traders was a good call, thanks @Gettingbysomehow. This one would be perfect

I got this one and was looking for something in bolder colours - this one is the best colour I could get. The advantage is that it's cotton not polyester
so not sweaty

I got a white one originally.

Just found these which are slightly different - not cosy but better colours

I don't know why they assume everyone who wants one would like pastels. They are really useful for going to poolside or jacuzzi or whatever

£185 for 100% polyester paraded as ‘luxury Italian fleece’

Threetoedsloth · 05/12/2025 20:18

Oooh that Cotton traders one is lovely, it's cute and you won't look like Audrey Forbes Hamilton as you would have in my David Nieper offering!
I do find that nice dressing gowns are hard to find.I had one which was cowl necked and kaftanny with no fasteners at all - just pull on. Sadly it wore out and I have never found another. I won't wear ones that tie around the waist cos they make me look like a sack of spuds (due to my desire to eat too many sacks of spuds)

Ooh the Matalan one looks cozy … not sure it would survive my clumsiness with super strong morning espresso, but I’m heading there next zmonday so will take a look. The Cotton Traders one is sold out in my size 🙁

It's the sort of thing I am tempted by in places like Yorkshire trading, Boyes or the Original Factory shop.
My dressing gown is ancient but good as new so I don't givev in.
What about edinburgh Wooen mill?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/12/2025 01:40

I got some from Carole Hochman ( QVC originally but they do stock this brand in Costco)

I have a couple from Amazon now , my Leeshure Robes as DH calls them
Zip up, pockets , throw in the wash,
I have navy and magenta

Gettingbysomehow · 06/12/2025 01:56

grannycake · 07/12/2025 06:09

I'm short and I have a zip up knee length fleece dressing gown - I got it in Home Bargains last year

ShowOfHands · 07/12/2025 16:37

I have this one from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dressing-Fleece-Pockets-Bathrobe-Loungewear/dp/B0DHGXJ7F3

I can't find the exact colour but mine is blue, not an insipid grey. They seem to sell at different prices in different colours.
