SPF that doesn't freeze your face in winter

My beauty therapist has recommended spf every day, for my face and neck. I need something that won't freeze me on the school run like my current one is!

That’s weird, mine never has! I use Avene for dry and sensitive skin. It’s nice and moisturising.

Do you wear foundation? Mine is spf 40. It's Estee Lauder futurist hydra something something.

Badslipperluck · 04/12/2025 13:32

La Roche posay doesn't freeze me nor does byoma. Can't think of any that have ever done this. Moisturiser underneath obviously.

I can’t think of any that have ever done that, are you going out with loads on while it’s still wet?

OneBadKitty · 04/12/2025 18:09

I don't actually know what you mean by your SPF freezing your face- I don't see how it would do that! I've worn SPF every day for the last 33 years and never had one do that. Currently using Paulas Choice calm spf. It's nice.

TMMC1 · 04/12/2025 18:11

Gosh, what are you using. Never experienced or heard of this before!!

vetprob · 04/12/2025 19:27

Thank you for the suggestions! I am moisturising too, I feel like the spf isn't absorbing very well. It's just Nivea face sun cream, but I'll upgrade ASAP!

Why do you need spf in the winter? That’s crazy!

RampantIvy · 04/12/2025 21:24

Because you still need to protect your skin, especially if you’re using something with retinol in

I'm in my 40s and I'm trying to do the best for my skin while it's still got some life in it. Finally investing in myself after years of prioritising others.

My morning routine after washing my face is Garnier Vitamin C serum followed by L'Oréal Revitalift SPF 50. No separate moisturiser otherwise it makes my oily skin more greasy. This sinks in nicely and works well under makeup.

CaptainMyCaptain · 05/12/2025 08:29

I wear a sun screen all through the winter - usually cheap stuff from Lidl or Aldi, maybe Sainsbury's. It has never frozen on my face.

No it's not, I started wearing it all year round when I was mid twenties. I'm now 70 and people always express surprise. Women I meet (at a gym class so fairly normal to discuss this kind of thing) thing I look barely 60. I have some fine lines but no wrinkles.

Leafy3 · 05/12/2025 08:33

Cereve do a factor 50.
Are you applying spf just before leaving? Give it 10 minutes to soak in.
