Hi there,

I'm looking for advice re highlighting my own hair at home.
I would love to create a natural look- I am naturally dark blonde and am very gray around the front sections, and this is getting more and more, so maybe I am asking too much as I know it’s difficul to colour gray.

i had an online consultations with Sally Beauty who were lovely and very helpful, I just wondered if anyone had any tried and tested tips?

ps Please don’t criticise me for not going to a professional, my profession is on the floor due to all the cuts and cost of living crisis so I’m just trying to do what I can!

Get a friend/relative/neighbour to do the back for you.

Old school but I always used to do my own with a pull through cap, with great results. Always used a toner after. Not good if you want to get really close to your root though. There are lots of good videos on YouTube for free hand but you could consider using foils for a neater finish. I’d definitely get someone with a steady hand to do the back for you though.
