What cup size do you think this is? (not an obscene photo)

Hoping that the picture won't get blocked (it's just taken from the skims website). I am about to have a breast reduction for medical reasons and am struggling to visualise what the various sizes will actually look like - clearly I appreciate I'm not going to look like the model!!

In my head this is about a C?

Im trying to see what a B would look like. I'm a size 10.

I'd say a C cup.

Pyjamatimenow · 03/12/2025 09:42

She’s smaller than me and I’m a 28 back. She’s probably a 26dd or e

It usually tells you in the product details what size and height the model is.

I just checked. Under ‘Fit & Fabric’

  • Sarah Is Size 2, 34B, And 5' 10” (178 Cm), Wearing SKIMS S

I would have thought larger too, but the other pictures of her side profile, she looks much smaller busted.

skims.com/en-gb/products/naked-plunge-bralette-clay

So if she’s a size US 2 I’d hazard a guess she should actually be wearing around a 28 band, certainly not a 34 which would be around US 8, so by ‘sister sizing’ a B cup would be somewhere around a DD (I think) - so she’s likely somewhere around a 28DD. This is the issue though with old vs new bra sizing - OP I think you’re much better off looking at Irish Bra Lady suggested by a PP and finding some reference images you like (in your true band size) and showing those to surgeon.

I agree that those are not standard/unedited boobs haha! I did think - how is that flimsy piece of fabric pushing her boobs up so much?

Haha yes. There's no way I'd ever have worn a Skims bra. Zero support 😡

Spookyspaghetti · 03/12/2025 09:54

Another vote for a DD. I was B/C in my youth but this bust looks fuller to me!

Anonanonay · 03/12/2025 09:55

C

Cup sizes change volume in relation to band size. I'd say 26DD. She has a tiny frame.

How can you tell her frame when there's nobody else there? Though I guess it's clear she's very slim. You're right about it looking much bigger than a C.

I think I'm even more confused than before..

I have realised Im almost certainly wearing the wrong size bra currently by a significant number of sizes

There’s 2 different ways of measuring now - that’s why you’re getting a wide range. The old way of measuring you add inches to get band size, new way you don’t add anything. But you’re the same size either way.

34D in new money would be 30DD/E

welshweasel · 03/12/2025 09:59

Before you have a reduction (assuming it’s not as part of cancer treatment) please get properly fitted for a bra. It will make a huge difference!

Under the breast around my body Im measuring 31 inches. Around the boob in my widest area Im measuring 38 inches (but my boobs are currently very saggy) - Im 53

The surgeon has said I'd have a B cup.

My surgeon said that to me- they're clueless on cup sizes for women with small back sizes. I'm around that size ( maybe a boobs a bit smaller and body definitely bigger) and I'm a 30DD/E but I tend to go up a back size and down a cup size for comfort.

So you would be roughly a 32FF

Id guessed her at a 30C

No way. I'm a 30C and my boobs are barely existent. Remember, a 30C is the equivalent of 34A

Cup sizes like you're talking about them don't exist. Cup sizes only exist in relation to your back measurement.

I'd put her, like someone else said at maybe a 30DD.

FancyCatSlave · 03/12/2025 10:05

I am much fatter and hover between a 32E and 34DD depending on brand and don’t have big boobs at all.
I would say the B cup you are being quoted @user746016 is based on the horribly ill fitting M&S style of measuring where you add 4 inches.

I’d agree that the model is probably a 28E or similar.

bodyofproof · 03/12/2025 10:09

Pinched some photos off the Instagram, the second is me and you can see I don’t look that big

i agree with this. I’m not a dissimilar size to you OP and a proper bra fitting (not M&S) has made a huge difference to me.

I don't understand what you mean? What good does it do to get measured now?

Im 30b and my boobs are much smaller/less rounded than this. DD is 30E and is more voluptuous than that so somewhere in between?

Westfacing · 03/12/2025 10:22

user746016 · 03/12/2025 09:37

apparently this model is a 34 B (although skims website so US)

This photo looks made-up, not real. There is no way those breasts are a B cup, not in the UK anyway, regardless of the frame of the model. Plus one of the breasts appears quite a bit smaller than the other!

These photos are not very helpful to you.

There’s no way she is a B. Her boobs are really quite big.

Based on what you've told us you are probably a 32E or possibly a 30F. Taking measurements to use the Boob or Bust calculator will give you the most accurate starting point.

I appreciate that a properly-fitting bra may not address the medical need for your reduction but it would at least give you an accurate starting point to discuss your options with your surgeon. For what it's worth, a B cup on a 32 band is quite small - a sister size to a 34A or a 36AA.

user746016 · 03/12/2025 10:29

Hmm Ive had a look at the Irish Bra lady and a 32 B is very, very small. This is going to take some significant mental adjustment.

When I had my op the surgeon measured up precisely - position of your collar bones etc to create a look that would " fit "your body shape. There was no talk of cup sizes.

Theres a medical need for the op and there's only so much they can do with what's left without implants.

Yes, I think this is it. Surgeons are not bra fitters, I don’t think it’s useful to talk in cup sizes with them.

Talk size, volume, position, shape etc, and show pictures of boobs (preferably bare boobs, not in underwear, as it can be very misleading, as above.)

Then just get fitted once the op is done and everything has settled and healed.

Qualityroses · 03/12/2025 10:36

She looks similar to me and I'm a 28G.
