Thermal gloves

Hi all. I’m lucky enough to be heading to New York in January but I know it will be freezing 🥶 I’m looking for some stylish thermal gloves to wear (if they exist!) Ideally, I’d also like to be able to use my phone without taking the gloves off as well. My coat/hat/scarf are blue so it would be nice to have something to co-ordinate. Does anyone have any recommendations please? My absolute maximum budget is £30.

Following with interest for my mum who struggles to keep her hands warm. Sadly not heading to New York anytime soon!

Hi there,
In my experience you're not going to find a thermal glove that will give you enough manual dexterity to be able to go into your zippered purse (that's probably being guarded underneath your zippered jacket) to extract a credit card or a few bills for whatever it is that you want to buy, or to take out your phone to use,

Most gloves that are warm enough to keep your digits toasty are bulky, and then you're going to be struggling with pulling a glove off so you can do something and then you might drop the glove, it's going to be a total freaking mess.

You're better off going with something that are more like fingerless gloves with an attached flip top mitten. That way you can keep your fingers inside the mitten pocket most of the time, but when you need to use your fingers you can flip the mitten part over and better use your fingers although, your thumb will be a dead loss.

They're not THE warmest but they're better than many other options If you want something that also allows you to have dexterity

I haven't heard forecasts of whether or not New York State is expecting colder than typical temperatures in the next month but, it's not THAT cold... Although my judgment of temperature is subjective.

I forgot to add that if you can find a fingerless glove with a flip top mitten attachment, go to a dollar store and pick up a couple of packages of hand warmers. Unfortunately they are one time use, if you go to a store like "Dollar tree" they will cost approximately $1.50 And when activated they will give approximately 8 hours of nice warmth.

They're perfect to pop into the mitten part of the glove, to keep your fingertips warm, and if you have to flip the knitting part off to use your fingers, just be careful not to lose it, and you'll be grateful to go back to the warmed mitten part

You can also pop these into your toes of your boots if your boots have enough space at the toe (which mostly they don't) or into a pocket, or something else.

I have some really warm Superdry ones, I know MN hates that brand!
They're fingerless but have a flap.
I've got the matching hat and scarf and they really are toasty warm.
