Mascara help

I need mascara recs! I have fairly long and thick lashes, oily skin and slightly hooded eyes so I always end up with little dots above my eye/around my brow bone where my mascara smudges. I have tried using an eyeshadow primer/setting powder/setting spray and it still happens. Does anyone have any recommendations for how I can stop this/mascara which does not do this?

it makes me feel like I look a mess even when I have tried my hardest to look nice.

I always apply powder on my whole eye area including the lashes themselves before applying mascara which stops them smudging.

Some people swear by using tubing mascara

No7s tubing mascara, its a game changer

KnightonShiningArmour · 01/12/2025 13:09

Hourglass Extreme doesn’t budge. Expensive but worth it.

isitmytime · 01/12/2025 13:11

Tubing mascara. It doesn’t budge until you want to remove it. Comes off easily with warm water though. The no7 one is great I’ve even slept in it and it’s still there looking fresh in the morning

I have the same issue and switched to tubing mascara and found it a game changer. I’ve actually found cheaper ones are better- Wrap Lash and Elf have worked for me!

I've been using tubing mascara for a few years now, Clinique Lash Power and Natio Precision. I tend to be a bit greasy around my eyes (not as horrible as it sounds 😁) and anything that isn't tubing ends up making me look dark smudgy under my eyes.

Benefit fanfest mascara doesn't transfer for me but looking at the comments I wonder if I need a tubing mascara 🤔

Ruthietuthie · 02/12/2025 04:01

You need a tubing mascara. I use the Clinique Lash-Power one or the Hourglass Unlocked one. The Hourglass is thicker, while the Clinique is more of a natural look. Anything else leaves me with smears.

Thanks all! Tubing mascara seems to be the best bet. Off to google some of the things recommended here! ❤️

I use tubing mascara on the bottom lashes (that stops me looking like a panda and I swear by the Elf one) and a normal mascara on top. Is it smudging on top when you put it on and the mascara is wet or later on?

Branleuse · 02/12/2025 22:57

I love tubing mascara too. My face is the soap and glory one, or the w7 one

EdinburghEagle · 02/12/2025 23:09

Victoria beckhams. Absolutely brilliant. All mascara smudges on me. Not this one. I can sleep in it and it still looks fresh.

Exactly this. I also have oily skin and hooded eyelids and recently switched to this mascara and it is brilliant! I just use warm water to take it off before I wash my face at night.

I've got two tubing mascaras, the e.l.f lash xtndr and Clinique lash power. They're both great. E.l.f is more dramatic and I use it for nights out. Clinique is a bit more toned-down so that's the everyday one (unfortunate, since it's much more expensive). They both come in black/brown or off-black, which is nice as it's a bit softer.

Wonderknicks · 03/12/2025 08:07

Elf tubing mascara with the green lid. Cheap as chips & the best I've come across. I saw it recommended on here. It doesn't load too much on the brush & is easy to layer. I have pathetic eyelashes (post menopausal) but it improves them enormously.

I use Rumi cosmetics tubing mascara. Absolutely no smudging etc. love it
