General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Selfrdiges and Jo Loves calendars this year. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Day 11 Nivea - headband 💝

Delicious cheese today; Schnebelhorn (I think Gruyere in a slightly different hat). More shower gel from Korres.

@OchonAgusOchonOh - very possibly that was its purpose but there was nothing like that in the calendar. It had its own door and everything. Plus wood - not terribly easy to clean! I have a feeling there may well be another one in this calendar!

@HollyGolightly4 - I am loving discovering new tea to try!

So our mission for the advent season is to figure out what you should use the little spoon for. We'll need a picture though.

@OchonAgusOchonOh I can’t find the original - maybe I threw it away - but it looked like this one but tiny!

Maybe something else was meant to be with it, but mine was definitely flying solo!

I've had the pukka tea one a couple of times and I've really loved it. I might see can I pick one up for January.

Very glad it’s Friday, I’ve had an intense week at work. Lovely to have a calendar to open as a distraction.

Day 12:

Selfridges is a double drawer again. This time two lip products. The Huda beauty Faux Filler Lip Jelly oil is not for me. The Laneige sleeping mask however I am happy with and will use.

Jo Loves is a candle today: Mango Thai Lime. Smells interesting, and I’m looking forward to using it. I am really enjoying this calendar. I think it helps that I had only previously tried a very small number of Jo Loves fragrances and products, so almost all of it is new to me. Getting shower gels, fragrances and candles each day feels very indulgent.

Clinique All about eyes (full size) is today’s JL offering. Nice but the 2nd eye cream in 12 days is a bit meh. I’m definitely not loving the JL as much as last year’s Space NK so will definitely swap brands next year. Maybe the Lumene as I like their products although I had Elemis one year, again, I like their products although it always being skincare got a bit samey.

So, number 1 on next years wish list is Brown Thomas if i can get one, then possibly Liberty/Harrods/Fortnum & Mason/Space NK - or a Frankenstein!

My SNK was entirely products borrowed from other BACs. I didn't keep the haircare that was originally in the drawer.

I still have some reservations about the colour of this blush. I've since tried another lighter shade and they are quite pigmented.

Today in Rituals is the Black Soap which I've put in the bathroom for DH.
I've always been Sakura as my favourite but I wanted to try others .

I’m very pleased with day 12 again - a 30ml bottle of Gallivant Buenos Aires EDP in F&M, a Memoire de roses hand cream in L’AP, and a Santorini grape body milk in Korres. 😊

Bit of a disappointing day for me today, especially for a Friday. I was hoping for something sparkly.

A heated satin sleep mask in OK. The heated inserts can be re-ordered so I guess it's kind of like the Spacemasks but reuseable? Maybe I'll like it more than I expect.

Sadly, the No7 offerings of the last few days are nowhere near as interesting. Yesterday I had a face pad for removing makeup - useful but dull, and today it's a primer. Seems quite good so far after trying it this morning but will see how my face looks by this afternoon! I usually find primers make me too shiny by the afternoon as I (still) have such oily skin in my 50s!! 😫
