General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Selfrdiges and Jo Loves calendars this year. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Harrods fragrance was Dorade Tiziana Terenzi, a bit hit and miss on the reviews but maybe good for the summer.
I don’t like to try them until I am sure I will like them.

Day 7 Jo Loves is No 42 Flower Shop perfume (a proper spray too, not the paintbrush!). This is, unsurprisngly, very green and floral. It's actually the kind of scent I love to have in a scented candle for spring but I'm less keen on wearing. I'll probably pass it on but might look out for a candle in the same scent.

Edited to add that I just checked and this doesn't come as a scented candle so I won't be doing that 😆

I kept this one and wear it to the office sometimes as it's not an in your face scent. I find it to be very average though and the longevity isn't great. Not something I would actually purchase. With hindsight I probably should have sold on but I wanted to feel like I'd kept some from Harrods FAC because a lot of them weren't hits for me.

Lumene Day 7 is another baby-sized moisturiser. Will be interesting to see how different all these moisturisers are.

I tried the tiziana terenzi dorade a few days after receiving the AC, I couldn't stop myself 🙈 I like it, I thought it was sparkly and girly, I put it back in, I'm guessing I'll open it on the 14th if it's in the 7th box 🤔 My mum liked it too so I got her a bottle from vinted, she's been wearing it 🥰 I opened day 3 yesterday, the Thameen riviere and wore it yesterday. It's nice, that's another one I find sparkly. It's a unisex fragrance so I wasn't sure if I'd like it. I like all 3 that I've opened so far 😁 Have you tried any yet?

After reading your post I've decided to try the Neu magnesium spray and order it from Vinted. I have been having hip and thigh pain at night, so it would be great if it helps.🙏

Last year's No7 had an SPF day cream which I will use.

The Sephora tin had a brown nail polish... I am never going to wear this, no matter how cool it may (or may not) be. I am being haunted by nudes and browns this year!

I like the sound of the neu spray. I have an inflammatory form of arthritis and it might help with the flare ups.

JL perfume today. Didn't like the scent when I smelt it in the bottle, but put a bit on and it's quite nice. Not a spray though, so bit awkward to apply.

Boots premium - Iconic London face/cheek palette. Nice shades.

@Seahorses12 I am a big rose fan, and Diptyque Eau Rose is up there in my view as one of the very best. I have a full bottle of the edp that is now less than half full (and I have a lot of perfumes, so that is saying something!)

@OchonAgusOchonOh I’m with you on single use face masks. I have loads lying around because I just don’t use them. I really don’t like the slimy feel of most masks on my face and can’t see that they actually do more than a jar of cream/serum face mask that you apply and then wash off. If anyone does know whether they actually do something more, I’d love to know.

OK - Ella & Jo Miracle Mask (RRP £34, surprisingly as it's not a brand I've heard of). 100ml, full size, and it's a hydrating face mask.

Glamour - FUL 300ml hydrating hair mask (full size, RRP £32). Another brand that's new to me but I'm pleased with the size.

A very Sunday-ish day for me, nice self-care items. I'll be hydrated and moisturised 💅

Day 7 LIB Stylist. 1st make-up product. Elf power grip primer 15ml travel size. Used before and quite liked, though prefer setting sprays but will be handy for weekends away

Day 7 of the OK beauty advent calender was a hydrating wash-off face mask from Ella and Jo. This was one of the practical items I needed.
I have already used a it few times and really like it. It is a nice weekly addition to my skin care routine; great for dry and sensitive skin.
Even though it's not a well-known brand I'll probably repurchase (or get a back up from Vinted!)

My day 7 of the Sephora calendar was another double drawer. This time a soap bar and a perfume. I have another perfume by this brand and I really liked it. This one does smell rather masculine but I quite like it.

Rituals - Hibiscus candle . Quite a nice scent

Gruum - Day 7 - Relaxing sleep mist, Land of Mid, Jasmine & Green Tea.

Another great product for me. I was a bit worried that the AC might have the odds and sods of products but so far so good.

ASOS today is the Inkey List Niacinamide Serum. Pleased with this.

Sylvan Glow is Purito Seoul Mighty Bamboo Panthenol Cream which is a moisturiser. Good for dry skin which mine tends towards, particularly in the winter so I’m happy to try this.

That looks lovely. One of my favourites from last year was the room spray.

It smells glorious, I've put some on my sleeve. Do you think the calendar is similar to last year? I'm really pleased so far, I wonder if it changes much though?

I am the same, I feel I have to like them after the worry of getting the calendar. I will put this on my keep pile for the summer.
