General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Selfrdiges and Jo Loves calendars this year. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Is that a Wishtrend product? I think I tried a sachet of it recently and really liked it.

Gruum Day 6 - Bath Soak Bar, Jasmine & Ylang-ylang, it smells gorgeous.

That was in last year's too. I don't do baths so used it as body moisturiser. It was lovely.

That's a good idea, it's really soft and melty so I can see that. I love a winter bath!

Today’s cheese is Aldwych goat’s cheese. I’m a big fan of goat’s cheese and this one is a definite hit for me. It’s good that it was quite a generous size and that DH really dislikes it, as I’ll be able to enjoy it for a couple more days.

I don't use setting powder, I have skin that tends to dry, but I've heard good things about Laura Mercier and it's one of the products I particularly wanted to try, so I'm happy with Asos today!

Bonne maman was a redcurrant and raspberry jam, which tested my French to destruction - I had to look at the English on the box.

I'm enjoying trying to translate the French each day, I'm definitely very rusty.

Day 7:

Selfridges is a Rodial Vit C brightening tonic. Seems to be full size, and not one I’ve used before, so happy to try it.

Jo Loves is finally a perfume - this is No 42 The Flower Shop. It’s green, and not a big, overwhelming floral. I’m very pleasantly surprised by it. Probably more of a summer scent than a winter scent, but will definitely wear this.

So for my Frankenstein 🧌 calendar, I kept with the wa blush 🩷 but also added in the crystal noir perfume from the JL calendar (I think) 💜 and the nue spray from LF (maybe). The blush is gorgeous, I love the perfume and I received the nue spray in a box in summer, when I hurt my shoulder, I started using this and it just helped me sleep so much. I also use it on my chest if I've got a bit of a cold. My husband also used it when he got a trapped nerve in his neck and says that he thought it helped 🤎

I also accidently opened day 7 of my Frankensteined fragrance calendar, oops!! It should've been day 4 🙈 I might have to start taking the boxes out as I'm getting confused 🤣 especially when it's before coffee.

Day 7 of SNK for me wasn't the WA blush stick. I sold that on Vinted as I already own it in that shade. Instead I replaced it with one of the 'star' products of the Liberty BAC which I bought on Vinted.

I think the brand are discontinuing these and replacing with a stick type product.

Icon face powder palette for me today! It looks lovely, not just blusher which was one of my number one requirements for a calendar!

Elle today is Wild Nutrition supplements. I wasn’t intending to use them but the seal wasn’t entirely stuck down so I don’t be passing them on.

on the 7th day of Christmas my messed up JL bac gave to me Sculpted By Aimee Mascara and Versace Noir perfume.

Liking the perfume - not tried this one before! Im going to have a good stash of supplies from January so I need to work on using said supplies and not ordering more 🤪.

My Diptyque advent day 7 drawer contained a 7.5ml of perfume in Roses.A lovely deep sent, happy with this. For years I only owned a couple of perfumes, so it's lovely to have some new scents gifted by me, to me!

This is unusual but in a good way and I like it 😀

I am really enjoying seeing what everyone else has every day.

Boots Skincare is a bit meh today. It's a Garnier sheet mask. I'm not a major fan of sheet masks. I have a load of them and just don't use them.
