General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Selfrdiges and Jo Loves calendars this year. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Sorry, I meant that was the advent calendar I'd be writing about in this thread, poor choice of words 🙈 haven't seen a boots premium one, I didn't think there was enough of us for one!

Oh that’s nice, I had it in a Selfridges beauty box last year and it was lovely in my hair. The Brown Thomas calendar looks great!

I've got the smaller Body Shop calendar this year, I don't think it's a hugely popular one here but it has a lot of travel size products which are really handy for me as I am away a lot. So, I will join you all if that is ok. I'm loving seeing what everyone has got each day, food for thought for next year!

Day one - mini mango shower gel
Day two - strawberry lip butter

Both will definitely get used.

I'm the same, I've just closed the boxes, I'll deal with the problem later 🤣 although that could be more overwhelming, we should probably sort as we go 🙈

I've never tried an EL primer before. I usually use the ysl glittery one ✨

I think we’ve definitely got the widest range of calendars ever this year! I could be persuaded to do a Frankenstein version next year, looking at some of the fabulous bits and pieces coming out.

Also quite envious of the Brown Thomas - I thought it looks great, but they didn’t ship to England.

I’ve finally got round to today’s cheese. Something called Ashcombe, made in the Cotswolds. I really liked this.

I've said it before in the BAC spoilers thread, but I really did enjoy creating my Frankenstein. Everything from listing the products I wanted to sell from SNK BAC on vinted, looking for bargains from other calendars, watching unboxing vids to see which drawer they came from in their original ac. It really did help to take my mind off a really crappy time. I'd like to think that I'll do it again next year, but it all depends on time, as it was quite time consuming.

The cheese sounds really nice. Are you eating the cheese the day you get it or waiting to create a cheese board?

We have the cheese one and are eating it each day - the blocks are big enough to give all three of us a decent sample. It’s a nice family thing to do with a teen who spends a lot of time in her room.

My home-made goodie was the Byredo lippy from Liberty (maybe two years ago??) it was so lovely I never opened it which is so silly - so I used it today adn it was gorge.

DS got some fancy Pokémon card I think. Not opened Degusta (all a bit rushed this morning).

ASOS today was some hair stuff from Sam McKnight. It smells nice, didn't do anything noticeable to my dry hair today but I'll wash it tomorrow and put it in wet and see what happens. My hair is curly so sometimes really doesn't agree with that sort of thing - the aveda stuff makes it go like straw!

Bonne maman was chocolate hazelnut spread.

Korres was a Greek yogurts face cream! We shall see what that’s like.

LF fragrance was Perfect by MArc Jacobs . Such a cute little bottle and a lovely fruity fresh smell.

Merit flush blush in cheeky this morning from Sephora . Happy with this as I already use it so excited to try a different shade .

Rituals today was a mini candle and dd Frankenstein was a gisou lip oil, she was very pleased

Anthropologie - A lipstick sized Wild deodorant in coconut and vanilla. Not glam but I'm very happy with this as I've wanted to try a different 'natural' deodorant.

Bit disappointed with today’s HN offering.

A scrunchie and a hair claw thingy - I think they are both ‘Bouji’ brands but I just tend to use those cheap stretchy bobble things that are 10 for a quid! Don’t even think they will make a great re-gift so they will probably end up in a drawer 🙈

Today's Frankenstein is K18 hair oil that came in day 3 with the SNK calendar and I popped in an Oribe sample 🙂

I also opened day 1 of my Harrods FAC (photo marked as sensitive incase someone is saving theirs until later in the month), very pleased with today's, I've put it on for this morning and it's lovely!

Anthropologie was Wild deodorant, a little underwhelming .

Elemis 12 day was Pro Collagen rose Marine cream. Again v pleased.
Tbh I’m enjoying this calendar more than previous F&M one and JM.
Used to like Body shop ones for the bath stuff but haven’t bought one for many years m.

H&B was a full size Wild bar of soap - not bad but I get through soap very slowly so would actually prefer a smaller one. Candle in Rituals, we’ll see about the cheese and the Korres offering tonight.

Not the most exciting from Just my look today but I will give it a try.

I absolutely love fussy products, and those minis are really handy in a bag.
