General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Selfrdiges and Jo Loves calendars this year. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Day 2 Jo Loves layered votive candle (Snowflakes & Christmas Trees) - pleased with this as I like the first one and haven’t tried the second one.

Glosters was napkin holders and napkins although I can see the holders wandering off to become crowns for DS’s toys.

Def getting a cheese one next year!!! Complete FOMO as I love cheese. Always get the beauty ones although I have soooooo much already and with a house move in store for summer 2026 I think I’m going to be on an operation use everything and no new purchases from jan!!

I just found out that my cheese calendar arrived 2.5 hours ago and DH didn’t tell me - he just left the box in the hallway 🙈

Btw: If anyone fancies the Twining tea calendar, it’s still available on Amazon, but sadly it’s gone up in price since the weekend.

It sounds sickly sweet. I haven't told dh it's his yet.

I have the Harrods fragrance and with it being 12 days I was going to do every other day but decided today to open for the first 12 days. I am not keen in today’s Marc Antoine Ganymede, it’s unisex but Fragrantica has it as unisex/male so I have not tried it all and listed it on FB.

I was planning on starting my harrods fragrance tomorrow but I'm tempted to start it today 🙂 I did sniff Ganymede when I first received the calendar and liked it so much that I bought myself another bottle to start using straight away, I really like it 😍

My highlighter was cracked but the blusher was ok

Delighted with 4 hair products and can't wait to try the oil. I've been wanting a new one to try.

I also have the Harrods fragrance and decided to open it as we are going away for a week on the 13th so the calendar will take me up until then.
I thought today’s was too masculine so have given it to DH for his travel bag.
Did you like yesterday’s fragrance?

I only use mine for tight lining as I find them a bit too smudgy.

I like them - little bit of a tendency to transfer down to lower line.

My favourite eyeliners for above my lashes are the Zoeva ones. The metallic green and blue are incredibly pretty and fabulous for this time of year.

The LF Aveda hair stuff was one of the reasons I bought the calendar, as I love it. I use it as a conditioner as I have fine hair and it detangles and also seems to keep my hair pretty healthy. And it's just so easy!

So today I have:
No7 Hydraluminous Night Gel mini - I will use this in the summer for work trips away.
Sephora Micellar Cleansing Water - again will use on work trips.
Same kinder bueno as yesterday.

Nice but not thrilling.

I liked the description of yesterday’s, more of what I would like. With it being a large bottle I don’t like to have too many on the go so I won’t spray it yet. I am still trying to use the full size Guidance I purchased after having the small one last year.

I leave it in as a styling product that 'conditions'; don't need much. I have fine, straight hair.

Mine has a big crack along it. I’ll get some white spirit an re-press it at the weekend.
