Feel like I’m too old for some shops. Don’t know my style. Need some going out clothes. Trousers, tops, skirt

Nice, but you need the budget for those. Many are expensive brands.

Is every single poster supposed to just repeat a list of High St brands?

Is that what you feel the S&B is for?

😕 Did you get out of bed the wrong side today?!

I think she makes a good point.

The posts on this thread which suggest ideas outside the usual chains are by far the most interesting and informative. OP hasn’t said anything about budget and in any event most of us have things in our wardrobes at a range of price points. You can also buy second hand or use ideas from the pricier shops to style things you already have. Just a load of 50-somethings saying “how about m&s?” is not especially helpful.

Chums @Perfidia

Good gods, that’s horrific 😂
I’m fast approaching 60 and wouldn’t wear that stuff if you paid me. Currently in my bohemian cowgirl era and loving it! I wore gold cowboy boots and a fabulous colourful maxi dress to my daughter’s graduation recently 🙌

Have just discovered Sosander which I'm loving and they have very regular sales too. Also Mint Velvet (but expensive).

Oh, how do you use Co-Pilot for ahopping? I love Vinted but find I have to trawl through a lot of ads to find what I want.

It's rubbish for Vinted but I get it to put me together a list of styles that suit me and terms to search for. Although I'm also fed up with Vinted since they changed their sizing policy 😭

M&S for good basics: Jeans, smart trousers
Uniqlo for cords, jeans, heat tech, PJs and everyday knitwear. Not keen on the colour or quality of their cashmere
Muji – if you can find one (I am 5'4 and it is such a delight to buy clothes cut for that height.)
Zara for adding a bit of up to date verve to a plain/classic wardrobe. I love their blouses for colour and fabric but the cut isn't great.
H&M sometimes. They have good pattern cutters for dresses and shirts. Even cheap clothes from there always fit properly.
Oliver Bonas and Whistles for one off pieces, Lily Silk, John Lewis and Woolovers for cashmere.
