Black Friday - GHD or Cloud 9

I’ve had the same pair of GHDs for over 20 years but while they still work however I have noticed that my hair is now finer and therefore more likely to get damaged by straightening. I have heard good things about Cloud 9s and am considering buying some in the Black Friday sale.

What are people’s opinions about cloud 9? Are they as good as GHD and is the temperature control worth it and likely to frazzle my hair less?

I’ve used GHDs for years. Seemed fine. My friend used her Cloud 9 straighteners on me last weekend and they were amazing. Salon quality! Think I might be buying some too.

Cloud nine were developed by the original ghd team, they're far better than ghds are now

I bought some cloud 9 straighteners years ago. They lasted just over 3 years before giving up the ghost. I used them every other day and part of it was lockdown when I rarely used them at all. I wouldn’t buy them again.

Cloud 9. I converted from GHD a few years ago and I wouldn’t go back.
i think it was about 5 years ago and still going strong. I like the varying temp control I can reduce it for the slightly frazzled parts my hair definitely looks and feels better using them

My first pair of GHDs was bought in 2007 I needed a second pair of straighteners in 2012 due to living in 2 places for a while so now DH bought me some cloud 9s they broke within a month so I sent them back and went back to GHDs and both pairs are still going strong.

Thank you for your feedback. I feel bad considering getting new ones as my GHDs have been such work horses and lasted so well. But on the other hand maybe it’s time for an upgrade. I do worry that things are not built to last in the same way as the used to be and I would hope to get another at least 10 years out of new tools bearing in mind the 20+ my GHDs have lasted.

I never had any luck with the original GHDs. They packed up after a year. I’ve had others in between but got Cloud 9s about 8 years ago and have never looked back.
