Uniqlo or M&S for Cashmere

Schoolstressed · 23/11/2025 12:00

I want to get an ivory/off white jumper (not cream or yellowy tones) that can be tucked or worn loose. A little oversized would be preferable. I’ve been looking at the two below but there’s no Uniqlo where I am so I’d have to buy online. Any thoughts on the ones I’ve linked? Or if anyone has any other suggestions please? Preferably crew neck. Thanks.

I have two of the Marks cashmere jumpers that you’ve linked to. Assuming this year’s Cashmere is the same quality, they’re great jumpers, wash well, haven’t piled and have kept their shape. Am tempted to add a navy one given the discount!

Freda69 · 23/11/2025 12:52

I’ve got a pink cashmere M&S jumper like that one and I’m very pleased with it.

Schoolstressed · 23/11/2025 15:39

Great thank you both! M&S is much handier for me. Now I’m looking at navy and pink ones too 😭

I much prefer M&S cashmere to Uniqlo…much softer.

Thank you. I’m glad I asked here.

Just adding my voice! I have the M&S one too and it’s now a couple of years old. I hardly wash it but it’s just been done recently, in the washing machine on the delicate cycle and it looks as good as new, no piling or shrinkage - definitely one of the best cashmere jumpers I’ve had.

Thanks TappaMcFeety, I have it ordered! Did you use a delicates detergent?

A Uniqlo merino wool jumper I had , got holes in very quickly. I wouldn't buy a thin jumper from them again any time soon.

Crazybigtoe · 24/11/2025 08:07

I find the m&s are a more generous better cut. If looking for an oversized look I'd go for M&S. Both are 'true to size' but Uniqlo is skimpier. Sleeves a little shorter and narrower etc

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 24/11/2025 08:08

Both are fine generally but I tried the m&s cashmere in cream at the weekend and it was basically transparent

cupfinalchaos · 24/11/2025 08:19

Bought M&S last year.. it’s ok.. not the best quality but great for the price.

Tryingnottobeamouse · 24/11/2025 08:25

I wanted a cashmere jumper for ages but couldn't quite brave the price tag. I tried on the m&s ones last year but they were just not very flattering. I bought a Uniqlo one this year and it's the nicest jumper I've ever had. I sized up because I prefer looser jumpers. So flattering, soft, and the colours are so much nicer than the m&s selection. I've had loads of compliments on my Uniqlo jumper

Yes - I actually brought some Stergene as it was all that was available in my supermarket and it was only when the jumper was mid-flow washing that I read and saw it was for hand wash only 😄 - but it was fine and came out lovely and soft.

WhiteCatmas · 24/11/2025 09:14

I’ve had Uniqlo cashmere for about 3 years.
Some bobbling but lovely, thick and decent.
I am 5’9 long bodied and buy a large.
I have big feet/long arms so don’t understand the skimpy arm comments above unless you’re looking for over hand coverage.

WhiteCatmas · 24/11/2025 09:15

BTW if you want oversized, just buy the men’s jumper. Thicker, broader and probably cheaper.

pepperaunt · 24/11/2025 09:17

I’ve just bought a John Lewis cashmere jumper which seems really nice and in the same price as M & S

goody2shooz · 24/11/2025 10:17

@Schoolstressed have a look at the M&S Jaeger cream cashmere if you want luxe and an oversized jumper! Much better than the M&S ‘ordinary’ ones. Tbf it’s also twice the price but….

sequinpanties · 24/11/2025 10:18

Have you looked at John Lewis?

DramaAlpaca · 24/11/2025 10:20

I have cashmere jumpers from both M&S and Uniqlo and prefer the M&S ones for quality. They wash really well in the machine, too.

Another76543 · 24/11/2025 11:44

I’ve recently bought my child a cashmere jumper from Uniqlo. It’s worn every day (over a shirt) and is wearing really well so far. It’s been washed a couple of times (on handwash cycle with Woolite). It’s much softer than the ones I’ve seen in M&S. It’s kept its shape and no bobbling. For the price, it’s excellent quality.

I found them short in the arms. I'm also 175- so around the same height. Sleeve was just on the bone. m&s a little longer. Size Large. Neither over the hands!! You arms must be shorter than mine 🤷

incognitomummy · 24/11/2025 12:44

You can buy this sort of thing on Vinted. There are loads. I’ve recently purchased a few jaeger cashmere tops via Vinted anyway.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 24/11/2025 13:11

I love Uniqlo cashmere. I would have a look on Vinted too.
