Strong shoulder bag

DD is adamant she wants a shoulder bag for school but she carries so many books the two she has had so far have broken. The first was fabric so I'm not surprised but the second was "pleather" and definitely looked stronger but one of the straps just came off. This is the one:

She wants something similar but it needs to be stronger, does anyone have any suggestions please?

Does she definitely want (p)leather? I think there are stronger options out there.

I use a Longchamps Le Pliage for work and lots of school pupils have them round here. Mine seems indestructible no matter what I put in it!

I’ve also just learned about Roka totes from another post and the Trafalgar looks sturdy and good capacity.

One of the things I regret about my schooldays, fifty years later, is that we carried shoulder bags rather than rucksacks / backpacks. That weight of heavy books every day was so bad for my posture, and I suffered years of backache from O’Levels through university.

If I were you I would employ all reason, persuasion or bribery to get her to accept a sturdy backpack instead.

Dd had a longchamp Pliage from year 10 and still has the same one at Uni. It seems to be indestructible 😀

Thanks for the tip, I'll show her the Longchamp and see what she thinks.

@FourFiveEightNine I have tried, believe me! She had a rucksack in years 7 and 8 but always carried it on one shoulder only. She's very stubborn and unfortunately cannot be persuaded otherwise.

Just get her the Longchamp Le Pliage. It’s very sturdy and light hence its huge popularity in Schools, colleges and universities

I have a ROKA Trafalgar tote and that is enough for my laptop, headphones, lunch and random other bits and pieces.
