having just see the Princess Of Wales in that absolutely stunning green velvet dress, I would love to find something similar for a Christmas ball I’m going to in December. Anyone seen anything like it?

Dear Lord - the photographs hardly do the dress any favours. What were they thinking?

Catherine is my DH’s absolute pinup . Last nights green velvet dress was stunning .

’ That colour would suit you’ he said with stars in his eyes.

Well maybe, but I am short, saggy and sixty , so never going to happen , sigh.

Similar, I'd go for similar but just below the knees..and I'm not a dress person...or get an opportunity to wear..

She very clearly has an eating disorder. Her head is bigger than her waist. It’s very very concerning.

My friend has been through cancer treatment recently. She was always very slim and lean as she ran a lot but has completely lost her appetite and is still struggling with that a year later. She has to force herself to eat just enough to get by. She says it is as if food just doesn’t exist for her anymore and so she treats it like medicine. She looks very similar to PofW. You don’t know what’s going on,

How on earth can you tell someone has an eating disorder for many years just by looking at them? For all we know she had health issues for many years prior to her cancer operation and is now struggling with appetite post chemotherapy. I think we can tell she is slim but that is all we can be certain about.
I agree with the PPs that say she is doing an amazing job of getting out and about with such grace and elegance. Especially given everything she has been through.

I went to the Royal variety in 2023, I wore a long teal gown. I felt like a superstar in it, until the Princess of Wales turned up in a very similar dress, looking a million times more glamorous.

The ghoulish comments about PoW, someone who has always been very slim, mostly muscle, little body fat. Considering she had chemotherapy, she looks surprisingly radiant. (Some) chemotherapy drugs can distort, even erase one's ability to taste things (and for an unlucky few, their sense of taste never returns). This make eating miserable. And this in addition to feelings of nausea and lack of appetite anyway. Regrettably, these things do not disappear the moment one finishes chemotherapy. They can linger for a good few years, if not longer. Also and perhaps most importantly, chemotherapy takes a lot for the body to get over. Any calories eaten pretty much go to rebuilding one's cells at the most fundamental level. People continuing to lose weight post-chemo is a thing. But, PoW looks great and is clearly doing well. She will fill out a little more with time, although she was always very very slim to begin with. And there's nothing wrong with that. All the women in her family are long and lean.

FWIW, I had chemotherapy and radiation. Indeed, when I was going through chemo, I was lucky, I did not lose my sense of taste totally but certain things - citrus - tasted of cardboard. I also had terrible reflux and there were certain textures of food I just could not bear the sensation of eating. I also lost my ability to drink hot drinks. Even now, almost 18 months since my last chemo cycle, I still struggle to make myself drink anything hot.

To return to topic, OP, glad you found a dress you love! Also love what your OP said!

That doesn't mean the colour or fabric wouldn't suit you and look lovely. If you want a more covered look, the suggestions on this thread are good.

Age means nothing. Don't sell yourself short. I'm chronologically the same age as you; I just bought it and expect it to look stunning on me!
