Is there such a thing as a glamorous and warm cardigan [or other shoulder and arm covering garment]?

I'm at a lunch in December that I've just been told is "full glam" 😒

I have a jumpsuit which fits the bill but its sleeveless and one shouldered. I could really do with some coverage for my shoulders and arms. A cardigan. What I need is a cardigan. But I could do with a "glam" cardigan.

Does such a thing exist?

Don't get me started on shoes 😡

I love this little jacket from Mint Velvet. You may be able to get in on Vinted. https://mintvelvet.com/products/black-sequin-bow-jacket
Though I think the short fur jacket linked above would work better.
Is the jacket just to cover your arms while you get to your lunch? You look fab in the jumpsuit so I wouldn’t cover any of it up! Get it all out on show!

Like an absolutely idiot I've double booked myself that day so I'm actually having a hair cut in the morning too 🙄I'll be finished at the hairdressers about an hour before the meal starts.

So I need something that'll keep me warm while I'm sat in the salon, something that'll keep me warm sat in a coffee shop waiting until an acceptable time to go the restaurant, something that'll keep me warm during the meal in case the restaurant is Baltic.

Basically, I just need to be warm 😆
I'm not too bothered about being covered up for the sake of covering up. I just want to be warm.

I'll be wearing a coat as well so the cardigan or bolero or cape or whatever won't be 'outwear' if that makes sense.

That is incredible 😍
It's a bit more than I was hoping to spend though.

Code BF20 will give you 20% off, its a Black Friday code launched earlier this morning.

Here's the jumpsuit.
Maybe something like this: Cream Faux Fur Half Jacket | Vinted

Blazer feels a bit formal, rather than glam. Or a bit like a Butlins bingo-caller if I try to go glam: F and F sequin black dress jacket | Vinted 😅

Budget is cheap as possible because I'll likely never wear it again.

Wow. You look fantastic in that! Anything with a bit of texture would work with that - an angora cropped cardigan or faux fur cropped jacket or a velvet blazer in a jewel colour.

Sainsburys have some nice black fluffy cardigans some with satin bows and others with sequins.

Kiwo · 19/11/2025 11:15

No advice but you look amazing and I am very jealous of your hallway tiles!

Offloadontome · 19/11/2025 11:38

I have a really nice "fluffy" white cardigan with sparkly buttons that looks good with dresses / going out, but is also warm. I realise the way I have described it sounds bloody awful but I will try find a photo of it or something similar! I have a black one in the same material. Will post a pic shortly

Offloadontome · 19/11/2025 11:45

Similar to these is what I have! These don't look quite as glam but the white on I have has lovely sparkly diamante silver buttons!

The river island top would look fantastic. Take any warm jumper to the heairdressers and coffee shop and just change you top for the evening do.

IDontHateRainbows · 19/11/2025 20:02

I have such a thing, it's black, thick, fluffy, slightly sparkly and cropped (but sleeves are long-ish) the perfect way to glam up an outfit but still stay warm.

ForAzureSeal · 19/11/2025 22:50

I would go for a soft slouchy wide neck cropped jumper in a deep jewel tone or navy.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 18/11/2025 21:43

You look fucking great in that, OP!

Yes you do! Maybe a lovely warm cape or velvet blazer and whisk it off when you get in there , as you look astounding!

What do you think of this: Lacey cardigan | Vinted

I went with this one from Vinted.

Thanks for saying I look nice. I don't really 'do' glam. This is my single glamorous outfit😂

Its not an evening thing. Its lunch followed by drinks but I'm actually skipping the drinks!

I think that will look amazing OP! Don't wear it to the hairdressers though if your getting a cut, it will get little bits of hair mixed up with all the fringes and be impossible to get rid of them. Wear any old sweatshirt and jeans to the hairdressers and get changed in their loo afterwards. They would maybe look after a bag of your other clothes for you too so you don't have to take it to the lunch.

MeatAndTwoVag · 20/11/2025 11:02

@ReadingTime I hadn't thought of that 😬

I can't really leave everyday clothes at the salon and then go back for them because I'll get a taxi home from the restaurant. And I don't want to show up at the restaurant like Tuppence-a-Bag will a load of clobber. I'll have a think. I have actually got a desk-top Henry hoover which would work to get all the stray hairs out of the cardigan. And I can leave that at the salon and collect whenever. I'll have a think....

I know you've already bought something now, but I think a cropped/waist length faux fur jacket would look lovely.

exaltedwombat · 20/11/2025 18:13

A few years back the Fashion Machine convinced us that Pashminas, posh cardies, were a thing. But now, I think a cardi is just a card again.

MeatAndTwoVag · 21/11/2025 18:13

They're lovely. Very classy. I might have a look in Primark. Thank you.

Full confession, I got it from Vinted for £1.50 🤣 It's a Pretty Little Thing one.

It's lovely- really deep green colour, comfortable and quite thick so it hangs well and works for winter events!

I've seen it on vinted in navy blue and black too!
