I live in a hot country and have no warm clothes except a decent coat. I have a weekend in Austria booked - Christmas markets, sights, cable cars etc Temps will be +5 - -5. Will buy a base layer/thermals but I need some relatively inexpensive trousers/tops. Any suggestions please particularly trousers ?

The Uniqlo heat tech clothes are really nice and comfortable: https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/women/heattech

I go to the Italian alps every winter and just wear jeans / regular trousers and jumpers with thermals underneath.

Thank you @mochimoons I notice they only show the leggings/tights as outerwear. Do you find one/both comfy under trousers?

These ones are very thin but very warm so are comfortable under loose trousers or wide leg jeans, I wear them as a base layer for snowboarding too. https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E469836-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=003

You may find that jeans are warm enough though if you're wrapped up on top, it depends how much time you are planning to spend outside.
