Any "just jeans" shops still exist?

I used to always buy my jeans from shops that just sold jeans.

I used to love walking in there and saying what I was looking for. The assistant would pull a few pairs off the shelves. I'd try them all on and walk out happy with at least one pair purchased.

I only ask as I'm currently in month 3 of trying to find jeans I like. I'm fed up of trudging round individual shops trying things on that might have what I'm looking for. They don't.

So does anyone know if jean shops still exist on the high street, and if so where I can find them?

If they don't, anyone got any pointers where I can find some low rise boot cut/straight jeans that aren't too baggy, don't cut into the groin or are too tight on the hip/too loose on the belly and don't drag on the floor in the rain.

So far I've tried

Levi, Hollister, Urban outfitters, Abercrombie, Gap, Uniqlo, H+M, River Island, New look, superdry, next, m&s

Ordering online and returning parcels is not an option as I work full time, don't drive and don't live in a thriving metropolis containing parcel drop offs everywhere.

Sounds like you’ve tried lots of brands - maybe a wander round John Lewis which will have jeans from lots of brands around the womenswear floor?

I am also having the same problem, two weeks ago I bought two pair from next .
I tried on one pair in the shop they were a little bit big but I always wear a belt so I was fine with that.
Got them home and tried the other pair on and I can't get them up let alone fastened .
They are a different leg shape boot cut v straight leg but why are they so different around the arse and hips ?
I thought I'd picked up the wrong size but nope both the same waist size.
Also why can't woman's have decent size pockets?

I used to buy M&S jeans but I noticed that as the price rose, quality seemed to be dropping off.
My last 3 pairs I bought online from Jeanstore, Wranglers at a decent discount. Prices seem good and delivery is quick.
They asked me if I had any questions so I gave my measurements and the brands I like - they gave me a list of suggested styles to try.
Worth a try?

Yup, done that in the Oxford Street branch. No luck!

Oooh, an online version of my 00s jean shop?

Definitely worth investigating.

Thanks

We may be able to make better suggestions if you say which makes / styles have suited you previously and some pointers about your size. I have jeans from 7 for all mankind (luxe vintage are my favourites), AG, Paige, Ted Baker, Reiss, Frame, MiH, The Kooples, Massimo Dutti, MaxMara.

Boot cuts are usually tighter round the thigh/hip/arse to emphasise the slight flare from knee down. Straight leg tend to hang looser from the hip/arse all the way down. So the style does explain some of the difference.

That said my wide leg jeans are a 10 when I haven’t seen a 10 since about 2015 and all my other trousers/jeans are a 12 even in the same brand, so go figure 🤷🏻‍♀️
