Lower eye cosmetic surgery

I have always had bags under my eyes but I've lost weight and they seem to be a lot worse. Has anyone had lower lid blepharoplasty? Have you been happy with it?

Hi I'm considering this. Did you go ahead with it?

Suburbanqueen · 23/02/2026 12:00

No, I am still not sure enough. Also, there are lots of other areas which I would probably start thinking could do with a tweak too and I don't want to get obsessed with it. Have you gone as far as to get quotes?

Yes I had eye bags removed. Really pleased I did however the surgeon left me with a tuck/pit in the corner of one eye which I now have to cover with eyeliner- not so pleased about that bit.

I had the operation as was fed up with people telling me how tired I looked and generally commenting on them. One person constantly referred to them as my “handbags” which I presume must be rhyming slang.

ArcticBells · 23/02/2026 12:14

Just to add,,it was a day case procedure under general anaesthetic.

Suburbanqueen · 23/02/2026 22:15

Was it very expensive?

Yes, I have received three quotes. One in London for £11500 😳 and two up north, both around £4500.

@ArcticBells thanks for sharing your experience. It's great that you're pleased overall and can cover the slightly annoying part. How was the recovery? Was there lots of downtime?

ArcticBells · 25/02/2026 06:31

@GreatName, the recovery was fine. I had it done under general anaesthetic as a day case. The first couple of nights I had to sleep propped up to help reduce swelling. It was done about 6 years ago and from what I can recall,I had stitches just in the corners of my eyes (? Surgical glue beneath) which were removed after a week. The bruising was under my eyes down to cheek bones and this took about 10 days to resolve. I purposely had it done in the summer so that I could wear sunglasses without looking conspicuous .

I had really big bags which the surgeon said contained a lot of fat and I’ve never regretted having it done. I should’ve gone back to get the tuck on one side sorted but couldn’t afford to pay a further hospital fee

ArcticBells · 25/02/2026 06:34

Just to add, it took about 6 months for the feeling to return along my lower lids while the nerves healed

Suburbanqueen · 25/02/2026 09:35

I'm in the south so those costs sound out of my league. Could go to Spain to get it done as have cousin who lives there.

I had an upper and lower bleph 10 years ago. I was only going to get an upper but the surgeon said that while I was there, was I sure I didn't want the lower done too rather than have to come back again a few years down the line. I'm glad I had both done and I looked so much better.

The only thing I have noticed is that my lower eyelashes now grow to one side rather than straight down, I suppose because of the amount of skin removed. It's still worth it, though. It took years off me.

BlackSwan · 25/02/2026 09:41

I just had uppers done... there's a few FB bleph groups which you would find helpful. Lots of shared experiences & photos.

Yapper73 · 25/02/2026 09:58

I had both. Surgeon stitched inside the eyelid so there’s no obvious work been done. She’s advised I have some laser to tighten the skin up a bit but I’m not really sure if I want to. It’s made such a difference to me. So happy I had it done
