Graduation shoes!!

Hi all,
I have my PhD graduation in December and I’m planning on wearing this dress, or one of a similar style - https://www.next.co.uk/style/su761063/w34566

My robes are grey with red hood. I was imagining wearing black heels but it’s going to be cold, and I also need them to be comfy enough that I can walk over the stage without looking ridiculous.

What would you wear?

Could you wear the heels for the walk then change into boots?

You need a button or sturdy fabric you can pin. Could you wear a jacket over tye dress?
