Have you ever gone mad and bought everything you’ve had on your list in one shopping binge?

I am one of those who either painstakingly analyses wardrobe gaps and hunts the perfect thing for years sometimes or falls in love with something on the spot and talks herself out of it on account of being sensible and have not yet filled the must have gaps, then decides to just get it and it’s already sold out. Very retentive like that and sometimes just fall off the wagon, but a few bits and return most as they were not perfectly perfect. On the positive side, I adore everything I have, though not a lot of it.

I save for the rainy day every month and am financially secure but always in a bit of a poverty mindset. So, with Black Friday sales already starting, I am thinking why don’t you just save the direct debit set auto saving for two months salaries and just buy everything on you must have and fancy list, just go mad and see what that feels like.

Have you ever done this and what did it feel like?

I don’t have a list. I’ve never had a list. I find the idea of having one for clothes a bit baffling to be frank.

I just buy when I see something I love (i) that fits me and (ii) suits me and that (iii) I can afford. No need for all this overthinking.

The only time I ever did that was my first pregnancy. We don't have a maternity clothing shop near us, so I made a list of what I needed and did a big shop at one store that specialized in mat clothing. It served me well through subsequent pregnancies, although because my wardrobe was limited there were items that needed replacing. But all items could be worn interchangeably, and I was clever with a limited palette.

It sounds like you need a refresh of your wardrobe, so making a planned list might be a good idea. Of course, you can only get fall and winter items now for the most part!
